So if M1 Ultra is the last M1 series SoC, does that mean there will be no "Jade4C-Die" with 40 CPUs and 128 GPUs as Mark Gurman reported (and he correctly predicted Pro, Max and Ultra)?

Or will the Mac Pro have two M1 Ultra using an extension of the interconnecting layer to allow them to either be side-by-side or arranged in a set of four around a central hub (one on top, one to each side, and one on the bottom)?
Jade2C may have been the Ultra.

Why? It's twice the CPU, twice the GPU, twice the RAM, twice the storage, and 50% more ThunderBolt ports. Otherwise you can go buy a $50K Mac Pro Tower with a higher electric bill.
For twice the power you pay 3000$ more actually. 64 core GPU Ultra costs 5000$.

thank you , look i’m really new to apple products but I hate these videos i love when they give out tech information going to have to wait for other channels to make videos about it
I mean, you're on MacRumors, and you didn't really have to watch the video to get the tech details on this site.

Chilllll dude. I never said this is a bad product. I was just saying that there are reasons to stick to PC other than simple price/performance considerations. Just like many of us bought Macs pre-ASi that had terrible price/performance compared to PCs.
Okay.

They really messed up the naming here. Imagine the Max not being the Max performance chip. Not sure why they didn’t go with M1, M1X, M1 Pro, M1 Max
M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra.

Don’t see how that’s screwed up, nor any better or worse than your suggestion ?‍♂️

Can’t believe they named a chip M1 Max which is not the most powerful chip. It will become so confusing between pro, max and ultra chips
It's gonna get worse. We already know there will be another even more powerful chip coming for the Mac Pro that is 4x M1 Max, so what are they going to call that one? M1 Extreme?

Apple's naming has become a disaster. M1 Ultra (sounds like MK Ultra)? Super Retina XDR Display? iPhone 13 Pro Max? Everything's so over the top. "M1" was a great, simple name compared to Intel's "i9-11900HK" or whatever. But Apple really needs to simplify their names. Hint: if it has four or more parts, it's too long.

Okay buy a freakin PC then - good lord - Apple doesn't use Intel and Nvidia anymore - #sadface. This is a Mac site.

And the whiners about upgradeability. Good lord - PC my friends - PC. BTW you need to go to PCMag.com to feel comfortable. Are you guys hanging out on a Mac site to troll?
I somehow doubt Apple is going to release the new AS Mac Pro and have it limited to only 256GB RAM, when the current Intel Mac Pro is user upgradeable to up to 1.5TB RAM. That would be quite embarrassing. I will bet anything there will be plug in non-SoC RAM ability to add to the 256GB SoC RAM. For serious Pro applications, a 256GB RAM limitation would be an absolute joke.

EDIT: I don’t know what happened with my math. I was expecting it to be $1000 more, $2000 more is shocking.
The sweet spot here is the Ultra with 48 GPU cores. The 24 Core Max GPU keeps up with the 32 Core Max GPU for most work. Each Max (there's two in Ultra) includes 2 dedicated video transcoders for a total of at least 4 of them in 24 Core Max GPU. For that much power the upgrade price is definitely worth it for those who would use that much power. I've not felt let down by the M1 Max 32 Core yet though. The base model is an amazing package.

Based on what a single 32 Core Max GPU can do, the 48 Core Ultra will be more than enough for 98% of video editors. The only people who will really need the 64 Core GPU for now will be gamers. Not sure what gamers would be doing with an M1 Ultra Studio.

The A5X and A6X had their RAM off-die so it seems possible Apple can do the same with the Mac Pro - a mix of on-die and off-die RAM, with the off-die RAM taking a performance hit due to latency and lower bandwidth.

This is some really impressive performance per wattage, but it's not all that competitive when it comes to price versus performance. The price/performance is whats going to be interesting to look at moving forward as Apple is going fully vertical.

The $3,999 Mac Studio has higher performance than a similarly equipped 28 core Xeon Mac Pro that sells for $15,000. All its missing is ECC RAM and slots. What has remotely close to Mac Studio performance for remotely close to its price?

I used to think the 2021 MBPs were expensive, now I don’t with the Mac Studio configurations.

The 2021 MBPs were almost identical prices to the Intel MBPs, with far better performance and battery life. Apple just dropped the lowest configurations.

That’s a hard stretch to even consider using a M1 Ultra Studio for gaming given current prices. But perhaps this will still add more appeal to using the model for developing games for macs.

I would not be surprised if Pixar doesn't already have over 1,000 on order.

Who cares if it isn't as fast as a 3090. I just looked up the price for this 3090 boat - it's almost $2000! More than a Apple Studio Max! Max power for the 3090 is 360 Watts! So yeah I'm glad it's not a 3090. It will be interesting to see benchmarks comparing it to the 3090. So even if it's 60-70% the performance it's also a ton cheaper to own and operate.
The thing is the 3090 can already be considered an old GPU and the only reason it users a lot of power is because it' built on Samsung's 10nm basically, but Nvidia will sonn be moving to 5nm and when they will get there the 4090 will have over 100% better efficiency for double the performance of the 3090 so the GPU in this M1 Ultra will look like a kid's toy by comparison. So yeah at least matching the performance of a 3090 would not be bad.
