Configured one out and it's $1899 for 2TB SSD and 24GB RAM. Sigh. I guess I'll see what tomorrow holds.
It's like car price anchoring with Apple. Either buy the base model for the value (cough Mac minis...) or go up a notch in the product line once you start ticking off extras. You'll get most of the extras you wanted included on the base model with a nicer display and some extra I/O to boot.

I actually didn’t see the base storage jump coming - that’s a handy upgrade! Also makes the 1TB storage tier more affordable as the next in line. The base price has jumped slightly, but not by as much as the almost essential storage upgrade would have been, so I think this is a nice update!

It also makes sense, as it moves the Air slightly higher up the chain, making room for the new MacBook below it coming tomorrow… 🥳

The MBA form factor is what I like, is the thing.

This remains Apple's greatest bang-for-the-buck piece of tech. Affordable. Light. Punches above its weight. For the handful of you still alive who speak "MechAssault" (the original, not the abomination that followed) it is the Bowman.
