Actually, China is known for aggressively pushing for renewable more than almost anyone to fix the very pollution issue you mentioned. It’s been the case for many years now and that’s why they are far ahead of the US in their embrace of renewables already.

China lacks natural fossil fuel resources, it needs to import most of what it consumes, so there's an economic reason to move to renewables ASAP.
America on the other hand is rich in coal, gas and oil and is desperately trying to keep that "Trump" card in play for as long as it possibly can.

So this is likely to annoy Trump to no end LOL

Too bad the USA are more focused on clean coal. This would have been a great investment.
OxyMoron, no such thing as 'clean coal' its the coal lobby attempt as selling a dirty fuel that many are falling for.

Wow! China is not exactly known for being environmentally friendly. Their pollution is one of the worst, if not the worst, in the world. I'm sure it took great "courage" to convince them to even entertain this type of project.
China is shaming everyone with their clean energy investments, including, for example they’re aiming for an entirely electric car fleet by 2030. Can America, with our current administration, and our oil drilling expansion, and our removing mountains for coal, say that?

No Chinese ( Or heck No Human ) wanted the Air Pollution, it was the side effect when China is in hyper growth mode. Now they are trying to clean it up bit by bit, reducing pollutant. Add in another fact that China has much more Solar Panel production capacity, and when they cant export it to US, they will need to figure out where to deploy them.

And BTW, $300M is a very small amount of money, likely to be used only as test phase. And there isn't a lot of land for Solar Farm close to where all these companies are situated.

Because they are two totally different topics? Ecology it's not about animal rights.
Leather is not only about animal rights. Raising cattle for meat, diary or leather is one of the most polluting things we do. So yes, it's about ecology.

Not to say the original poster was right by dragging it into this topic. Because by that logic you shouldn't address anything, until you address everything at once.

Good job Apple!

If they are so about being eco and about positive impact on our planet how are they still selling LEATHER stuff?!
Those are two different issues, and there is nothing wrong with Leather from any perspective.
