So basically, smart TVs don't upgrade softwares? But with Apple TV, you can upgrade softwares (e.g., Netflix, Prime Video, etc.)?

If so, that makes sense.

Thanks!
Just for fun this morning, I hooked my 11-year-old Samsung HDTV to the ethernet and went into its menu to update it. And it proceeded to DELETE eight apps, including Netflix, YouTube and Twitter.

So, needless to say, EVERYONE has stopped supporting this particular TV so my only hope for using it for streaming is to have a streaming box/stick of some kind.

Still looks like a crappy remote to me.
Depends on your taste, I personally like the old remote’s flexibility with way less buttons than a typical remote. The new one seems one step improved (it’s not as thin, which makes grabbing it even easier), it includes a jog-wheel and probably higher quality feel to it. That alone makes it worth it for me.

I just got an email saying mine shipped and arriving Friday, which is well in advance of the expected May 27-June 2 window.

When selling my old Apple TV do I just reset it? Does that reset it to factory settings and erase all my details?

Mine arrived today....If I was being really critical the remote is Silver and bigger/thicker than i expected but it I may swap with other remote

So with this remote I can switch the TV screen on/off as well as the AppleTV simultaneously?? Meaning I do not have to use the TV remote at all any more??

Very tempted to purchase so that I can disconnect the smart TV from the network and run everything through the AppleTV instead!!
