At first, I was going to complain that the group workouts didn't include being able to work out side by side with someone in the same room on the same Apple TV.

Then I realized that I could start the workout on the TV, my wife could start the same workout on her phone and share the workout (however that will work), then just set her phone aside while we both use the big TV.

The only downside would be that she couldn't see her stats during the session.

I was thrilled to see group workouts as me and my partner have wanted to workout together from the start..... but then it turns out she has to be ANYWHERE ELSE in the world apart from right beside me. 🤦

I guess... but a seriously janky solution. Seems like the obvious side-by-side workout would be a good one to work on first rather than this FaceTime thing!

I think (hope) Apple will have a side-by-side solution. It will either be included with this update (or will be brought in in a little while) and just was omitted from the event for timing reasons… There are often little clarifications like this that filter out via interviews etc.

If that’s not the case, I suppose it could be a hardware limitation of the Watch or Apple TV and they need a dedicated device link.

Having said that, hopefully Apple can release that room-widening tech they showed off in the OG HomePod video; our lounge is a little on the cramped size when I’m working out with my fiancée and we occasionally bash into one another 😅

I'd still like to be able to sort the functional weight training workouts by the area of the body the workout focuses on. I have to select and read the description of each to see if it's an "upper body" "total body" or "lower body" workout.

I like that we can sort by duration, I never sort by instructor or music. I can more about the area of focus.

It's quite annoying.

I do like that they are adding seasonal workouts, I look forward to more in that area. Maybe some triathlon specific workouts?

There was a mention of advanced filters in the screen of new features they show. I was hoping that meant what you're looking for.

On the summary ‘card’ for Fitness+, I noticed one of the boxes had “Enhanced Filters” so hopefully they may help you.

EDIT: sorry @pelowj , I didn’t see your comment - you beat me to it!

Agreed! Also, It's tough to find upper body workouts that focus more on the biceps.

Fitness+ was a godsend during shutdowns and quarantines, and it still is when I don't want to go all the way to the gym.. or when I have limited time.. or if I don't want to wear a mask when I work out. Guided Meditation is a welcome addition. However, a true partner workout solution with stats is much needed.

Yeah that guided meditation one got my attention, too. I've already been interested in Fitnsess+, just haven't bought it yet (yeah, I'm still "waiting" on the spirit to move me... partly cost-planing and timing). I'd pay annually for that discount. I skipped A1 because I don't care for News+ or
Arcade. I already got 2TB iCloud so it adds no value and it's more expensive versus paying annually for the things I do use (TV+, Music, soon Fitness+). Plus, no tax is paid on the monthly iCloud storage (whereas IIRC tax is charged on A1; someone correct me if I'm wrong).

Today's announcement moved me closer, tho... very interested, for sure.
