Most of these workout services (apple fitness included) are designed for the total beginner. The person who's only fitness is the walk from the couch to the fridge. Their target is to be in better shape tomorrow than they are today. Their goal is to move more.

I basically use it for the occasional cardio when its too miserable outside to walk or run like Kickboxing or HIIT. Otherwise, as an intermediate/advanced lifter and someone who's worked out for 10 years its just a tool in my toolbox.

If you choose to pay for a monthly subscription for just that that’s your business. But since we pay the same amount for a supposed full fledged fitness service I want it reflected as such.

I have a feeling fitness is the least bought subscription. AI said they may bundle it with health+. I wouldn’t be surprised if they did.

When you look at the post about "something big for 2026!" from two days ago and then look at this new stuff that's pinned and how they talk about everything.

It seems pretty clear that they just totally over hype everything about all of this.

Apple is just so far up its own rear end anymore that they can't even seem to read the room more broadly anymore, ever.

"We don't need no steenking badges"! If I had to pay for a excersice app again I'd go back to Jrny which I had with my bowflex equipment and bike. I compared both with the app 3mth trial and Jrny kicks Apple Fitness+ butt, at least for what I used them for. Tho neither are really great imho.

I've used apple fitness like once or twice, but i don't like their instructors, and the over produced feel. there is obviously a lot of $$ thrown at it, but i don't feel like they're nailing it.

They aren't offering anything unique or different from the numerous other fitness programs. are they just hoping that people decide to go with apple one and cancel their other fitness programs?

gymkit hasn't really caught on either. most gyms I've been to have machines that are either too dated, or never supported GymKit. its a mess. I've been trying to figure out how to reliably connect to a stages studio bike, with my apple watch and iPhone for way too long, and even when I am able to, the HR data doesn't always record. so i have to figure out how to merge the workout data with the hr data. It really shouldn't be this hard.

I have been subscribed for a couple of years and find the strength training valuable.

Why do they still insist on music being “DJ selected” rather than user selected. They have forced themselves into a corner as the trainers mention specific tracks, so it’s not possible to retrospectively fix with a feature update.

This feels like the same problem with the Vision Pro.

Apple don't seem willing to go truly ALL IN on time and money investment to do what it takes to seriously compete here.

If one fires up the Peloton App, you'll see what I mean.
It goes way beyond just stuff for and around the Peloton hardware itself.

My relatives in Seattle are your typical upper middle class fitness focused family and have "Apple everything" .. but they use the Peloton App for all the stuff one might consider Apple Fitness for.

I like the ideas of programs that build, but I completely agree with people who commented that workouts should be smarter based on personal metrics. My wishlist would be:
- stop making the trainers work off the apple script. Do away with the theme month, the apple music tie-in, the token amount of sign language (cc is available!), and the creepy dance they all do at the very end.
- allow me to turn off the music entirely so I can play my own.
- I'd love a workout that is movement other than Dance or HIIT. I'm too uncoordinated for dance, and the HIIT get boring sometimes with all the stopping and starting. A good old fashioned aerobics class would be fun.
