And that entitles him to a free Mac? Yeah right, his app is back and they apologized. Time to MOVE on.
I’m neutral on the free Mac, but here’s the real problem: this guy was lucky. He managed to find a consumer rights organization that was sympathetic to his cause, and which could get Apple’s attention.

If that hadn’t happened, we would never know. How many cases do we not know about?

They can do what this developer did to get help, seemed to work still doesn’t entitle him to a free mac lol absolutely stupid.

He was still earning on other app stores. A mistake was made, get over it. They apologized and its back.. move on!
Hopefully he got compensated because the App Store fee is $99 per year compared to the other store with one time $25 fee.

Free laptops for all the kids in that indigenous people's homeland region or reservation. Timmy locked up in a stock saying, "I'm sorry for systemic racism". Maybe a new "IPOC" Apple Watch...

Or, turn his account back on, refund his fees for the time he was locked out, and some cash to cover projected/potential sales while he was in App Jail. :) Say sorry and move along.

he got "600 downloads" and was flagged for that? WTH Apple? I'd love it if my app got 600 downloads in a month! And honestly that's a pittance compared to some of the big apps with 10k downloads per day. Whatever system they have needs more human oversight.

There are over 4 million apps in the AppStore. Since they are continually updating the OS the reviews are in the millions a year. I can’t even imagine the number of emails and other requests with over a billion active devices and well over 200 billion apps downloaded. Them getting back to you in a few months is pretty good.

While probably an honest mistake, it goes to show you that your entire business could go up in flames b/c some "app store" randomly decided to remove your business from it.

Apple pulls this poor guy app and allows dishonest apps like google chrome and Facebook to remain on the App Store 🤦‍♂️😂

Tell me where you'll find 100% perfection, 100% of the time. Especially when people are involved.

Defamation and insult cost more than a blipping MacBook Pro. An apology is better. The problem was not just falsely accusing an individual developer of fraud but also, as a multibillion company that claims it has a culture, ignoring attempts to be contacted.

This attitude is why accountability being ignored or discarded is considered a privilege for corporations like Apple. A.k.a, they can do whatever they want and walk away guilt free.
Yes, Apple eventually apologise but thats AFTER being pressed by media. Isn’t individual developer their key stakeholders? Or those indie devs are there giving apple free money without asking for reasonable return? Devs would more than likely go to a platform that respect their request and respond accordingly rather than being treated like a fool.

And they apologized and gave him access back...? Why is everyone always after free stuff.

The cost of Apple mistake was put down to the developer, not Apple. He was to one who saw its investment put into jeopardy by Apple. So who is actually after something for free here is Apple. Ops, sorry might be enough of a repair or not.

Apple should provide some compensation, I agree. Refund the developers fee, and/or provide a free year. Don't charge 30% for a year etc.

Beyond the above to my knowledge it's not very common for a company to throw money at a customer when they make a mistake. (I acknowledge there are stories of the largess of Apple at times for mistakes made or bad customer service)

- Credit card company screws up your account. Remediation is usually limited to I'm sorry and fixing the balances and interest.
- Someone is convicted of a crime they didn't commit and eventually freed. The system gives them nothing for all those years in jail.

Obviously, Apple need to assign more people on reviewing and testing apps before they can be submitted to the App Store. Removing an app just means that the initial approval was wrongs and error was committed by someone. There are too many apps that I download and delete immediately either because the app advertise something which isn't true, or because the app ends up being just a plain adware, it is full of bugs or it is completely useless. When an Apple employee has 2 min to review and approve an app, it is easy to make errors and even lead to serious security breach.

So you are saying the posters attitude is rubbing off onto Apple and they aren't doing the "right" thing? Whatever or whomever deems the right thing to be?

Timmy thanks you for your concern about his bottom line but would still like to remind you that to Apple a fully loaded MacBook is so minimal, so insignificant that it doesn’t even register on the radar. It’s like removing one speck of sand from the beach. They can give away 1000 of those and it would still just be a rounding error, if that.

It‘s the same like with bug reports. You can tell them about critical kernel bugs all year long and nothing happens, but if an influencer sees and posts that an emoji has the wrong angle it gets a quick hotfix.
Optics is apples specialty. Can’t look bad.
