Apple today announced that six additional games are coming to its Apple Arcade subscription service throughout April, including the iconic simulation game RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic, Katamari Damacy Rolling LIVE, The Game of Life 2, Sesame Street Mecha Builders, Space Invaders Infinity Gene Evolve, and puffies.

RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic comes to Apple Arcade on April 3 across the iPhone, iPad, and Mac:
Combining features from two of the series' most successful and beloved games, RollerCoaster Tycoon and RollerCoaster Tycoon 2, this new game invites players to create and run amazing parks with the most outrageous rides imaginable. Enhanced for iPhone and iPad, RollerCoaster Tycoon Classic+ delivers the same depth of gameplay and unique graphical style of Chris Sawyer's original best-selling PC games. It also includes three expansion packs — Wacky Worlds, Time Twister, and Toolkit — and is playable across iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
The first original Katamari game in nearly eight years is also coming to Apple Arcade on April 3, across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.

Here is how Apple describes that game:
In this quirky action game — an Apple Arcade exclusive — players expand their Katamari by rolling up objects scattered across the earth. Featuring unique and whimsical gameplay, and a captivating soundtrack that blends different genres, the game invites players to energize the king's "live stream" by rolling their Katamari to create stars. As users advance, comments from in-game fans appear, and the longer they play, the larger their audience grows. By completing the king's challenges and boosting their subscriber count, players can unlock dynamic new stages.
More details about all of the games can be found in Apple's announcement.

Accessible through the App Store, Apple Arcade is a subscription-based service that provides access to hundreds of games across the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision Pro, all free of ads and in-app purchases. In the U.S., Apple Arcade costs $6.99 per month and is bundled with other Apple services in all Apple One plans.

Apple Arcade is the thing I can easily ignore. Even my kids have no interest in it. Wonder what the trick Apple needs to do to make it a must-have.

I was really excited about Apple Arcade when it was announced because of Oceanhorn 2. I really liked the game too. Beyond a Steel Sky was also good. I like these kind of games. But besides those two, both came out at the beginning, none of the games afterwards had that style. Can anyone suggest any similar titles or is it all “5 minute games” now?

I personally enjoyed Fantasian a lot. It's an enjoyable RPG from the OG creator of Final Fantasy, and the whole game is one on miniatures and dioramas. I also enjoyed Limbo, Creaks, and the Last Campfire. Naturally, I sank a LOT of time into Balatro, but that's a whole different story.

I always trapped my park patrons with an employees only sign facing inside from the entrance… low morale but they kept paying, even for the bathrooms with fees!

space invaders infinity gene rocks. I played the original iOS version back when it came out but never got around to playing the console version. glad to see it wasn't forgotten. Katamari and RCT dropping is cool too, I cant believe im actually saying im hyped for an Apple Arcade drop lol

Ever since I tried the original demo of that game back in... '94(?) on a 486 DX2-50 with 4MB of RAM, it has always been my favorite. Always wanting Chris Sawyer to write a newer version.

The group behind OpenTTD are champs for keeping the game going.
I had that demo too - it only let you build rail/trains and lasted for 2 years of game time. Absolutely loved, but somehow didn't get around to playing the full version until the days of TTD Patch.

There is an enormous archive of video games that Apple could get developed for Apple Arcade. They are adding some stuff here and there, but it's not really moving the needle much for me.

Take a look at what Steam does with Steam Deck and how much development that gets. I see no reason Apple couldn't take a similar approach.

I am wondering if RCT will be a bit more optimized for iOS devices. The version I purchased a few years ago in the App Store seems to not go well (UI, etc) within a touch/iOS environment.
