Just noticed apple are offering me another free month for the trial. I’ve done this before, but when I’ve tried since it says free until I went to pay.

I can confirm I was not charged and it’s a genuine free trial for Apple Arcade. It was advertised on the App Store and looked just like their normal first month free offer.

$5 for no ads.

Makes the games safe for kids devices.
When there used to be a .99 payed version for that and a free version without.
Any way you cut it I feel it looks bad adding these old apps that were actually once priced sanely to a subscription service.

It really shouldn't be. Most people aren't gaming on a mac with Arcade.
I think it should...
At leat aim for titles to get relased on the Mac too. There are some titles (well, maybe not in this "classic games release") that benefits from the higher graphics performance of computers compared to iPhone amd iPad.

All games on Arcade so far has had Mac support. True that most people aren't gaming on Mac with Arcade, but maybe they will eventually if more and more titles are supported? :)

Anyway, I thought that was one of the cool thing with Apple Arcade – the only service with support for mobile, tablet and computer with progress synced between all devices.

Not interested. Subscription, innit.

I was tempted to install (non subscription) Crash Bandicoot today, but the privacy label put me off. Why does something like that need to track my location?

OMG I'm feeling so nostalgic now. Can't believe how quickly time flies, it was only a few years ago in the early 2010s when these games were so popular and they literally encapsulated what iPhone/iPad is capable of in terms of graphics and magical-ness.

Btw they should also add Temple Run - the biggest hit at that time.

Hmm... None of these games seems to work on the Mac. Was thinking they might have added support for playing on Macs since they are on Apple Arcade, but seems that is not a requirement (anymore)? 🤔
The mobile re-releases no, but I think the others are. I’ve always wanted a Clap Hanz golf on iOS, macOS is bonus. :)

Honestly, me too.

Just went through the list and downloaded like eight games. Still stupidly excited for the Oregon Trail.
It’s not your father’s Oregon Trail.

It opens with an apology for the invasion of the west, a note about how they consulted with Native Americans for this new version, etc.

Then, the game starts, and the inept, unprepared, stupid settlers are about to die when they are saved by the gentle Native American in the first cut scene, before you can even try to do anything.

Our family descends from many nationalities including Native Americans, and I am not sure if my native ancestors of the Caddo nation would agree with this narrative after the genocide they suffered at the hands of other tribal nations as they were driven from what is now Oklahoma into Louisiana and Texas. Then, after some time, they were forced back to the Indian territory out of Texas by the US. They also owned slaves and sided with the south during the Civil War in order to keep them and to form their own nation.

Life back then was brutal, and history is complicated and not good/bad but replacing one false narrative with another is not truth.

Zzzzzzzzzzz. Call me when there's actually games on Apple Arcade worth playing.

Glorified iOS apps don't cut it in a world of AAA-titles on Steam, Xbox, Switch & Playstation

I think there’s a place for both.

The majority of Apple’s customers own iPhones, so it makes sense that the titles on Apple Arcade would be geared towards smartphone games. Ie: games that can be consumed in short bursts whenever people have a few minutes to kill.

I can play D3 on my PC at home, and cut the rope when sitting on the toilet bowl at work.

That’s disappointing and so lazy on Apple’s part.

It shows once again that Apple has no consistency in their approach to gaming.

Yeah, I was a bit surprised. Maybe (hopefully) it will get added down the road.

Edit:

Oh, some games I looked at yesterday that said they didn't have Mac versions now have it! For example Cut the Rope Remastered and Simon's Cat – Story Time. Maybe it is just a matter of time then. :)

I hope going forward, that any potential Monument Valley 3 isn't going to be Arcade only.

Are these just rereleases of the original games into Arcade, or does the "Plus" in the names mean they've added new content?
beside the significance difference between old release was these bunch of games

are natively running on tvOS + macOS which were being neglected by all these developer before and it’s a huge incentive for the users

so far it’s re-releases overall with a few mild updates and, of course, more compatibility with multiple devices, game controllers, and no ads or in-app.

While this is a step in the right direction, they need to get more "adult" non-kid games in there to be more well rounded.

Also, I am really hoping developers come up with better ATV games. I am looking for something like You Don't Know Jack, with multiplayer support so you can play with friends using your iPhone as a remote while watching the TV as the trivia questions are asked. My friends and I used to play Song Pop Party and had a blast. Unfortunately the game is no longer supported and we can't find anything similar.

They are finally accepting the fact they cant have all Originals and Exclusive. Which was stupid in the first place. They had to use the word "Remastered" to think they are still on their original mission.

Hopefully there will be many other classic to come. Or basically games that were on iOS but no longer updated / worked on latest iOS. Square Enix's Chaos Rings. Or other IPs from Sega to Nintendo. Although that sort of Teens / Adults direction of gaming is still lacking, but increasing I dont think that is not Apple's target market for Apple Arcade.

And finally, Apple Arcade is available worldwide but not in Hong Kong and China. Which is very strange.

I would love it if the old Atari classics were available. I have an atari app on my iPhone, but the games are difficult to play and not much fun on such a small screen.
