Looks like a port of Ultimate Golf on iOS, same company in fact. I've played it for years on my iPhone and quite enjoy it. It will be nice to have a full screen version on Apple TV.

You're aware that video game consoles exist and all of them have golf games on them? You don't need a new one. I have to imagine you can pick up a working Wii with Wii Sports on eBay for $10.

Or... just run a golf game on your Mac and use AirPlay to mirror to your Apple TV?

The only thing about Apple Arcade games that annoys me is that it’s not really a different version than the Pay to Play models. You have to check in every day or at some interval to get free stuff, so that you get powerups that actually let you play the game competently

Just give me a game that doesn’t pester me all the time
That's a bummer. I liked Apple Arcade in theory, although the catalog of games never seemed worth signing up for. Now I understand why.

It's interesting... to make a commercially viable game, you need people to keep coming back to it. No matter how you choose to monetize it, that's the case... Apple Arcade pays out best for the most times the game is opened. Ads pay out best that way. Games that mine crypto in the background want you to open the app as much as possible. For an outright purchased game, if your game isn't long enough, you get hammered for it being too short, so developers are incentivized to add a bunch of filler material. Coin-ops, too.

Even though there's a large number of people who complain about all these practices and insist they just want that perfect little game at a fixed price.

The famous long running PGA Golf series everyone loved was made by EA. They lost the license recently and this is made by someone else. The article makes it seem like a game people love is coming to iOS but this is just a clone that happens to have access to the name now that EA lost it.

Apparently you're unaware it's ok when people like things you don't like.

why would anyone want to play a golf game unless its in VR?
I have to admit, since I first heard about VR back like 30 years or more, this is the first time I considered a golf game as a good idea for VR. By considered I mean heard anyone talk about it.

Why would anyone want to play a golf game that is in VR? That's up to you of course. As is up to everyone else who would rather play a non VR golf game.

How? VR practically exists for stuff like this. Hell, walkabout mini golf is just like playing the real thing. I imagine regular golf would be similar
