I just had a look at the offerings and I haven’t found a single game that interests me enough to try. Maybe I’m not their target audience. (I’m 29M).

Sounds like time to move on then.

Look at Microsoft’s game pass. Great games great price and still not successful. Game subscriptions are kind of stupid if you ask me.
But what is Apple, in past, well-known for? Not creating something that has never been done before, but refining something and making it successful. The weren't the first MP3 player or smart phone either, but they launched it in a whole new direction. Perhaps this will be similar.
Additionally, as someone who does not game much AND who has been often stating we are in an area of subscription fatigue, I will give it a shot. I'm likely going to cancel before the trial expires, but I'm willing to see what it's about.

I thought something like this was coming when they made the first, and failed, push for games on Apple TV. I wrongly predicted a smashing success and some hard times for Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo. I was wrong that time. This time I see they will focus on small and kid friendly games and it will probably be a really good investment for families that have 2-3 iPhones and iPads for the kids.

I have so far only tried the game where you put together things, cannot remember the name now. Looked alright but only played in portrait mode. Not really great for my iPad Pro 12,9” that has a keyboard attached. Hopefully there will come some really great games for the Apple TV in the future.

He thinks having 100 games ready to launch is the greatest accomplishment in management history, as if these games all required years of development time and only started when Apple invented Arcade.

From his discussion of gaming, he also thinks the only options are Apple Arcade or microtransaction mobile games.

LOL! This post is so bitter I can taste tears in it.

FYI some game DO requires years of development. For example

Even no-agenda Android users wants to try out Apple Arcade

I think people miss the allure of Apple Arcade.

The real value here, I feel, is that I am essentially paying Apple to curate a selection of games for me to play so I don’t have to wade through the morass that is the iOS App Store, where it can exceedingly difficult to find the app you want, much less ensure that it’s even good in the first place.

I simply hit subscribe and I am greeted with 100 new games waiting for me to play. Even if I do end up playing just 10 of them, I will say I have gotten my money’s worth. And there is no friction to trying out any of these titles since they are effectively free.

It’s not that different from following a blog like Macstories and purchasing the apps recommended by the writer.

That value is there, for the first month at least. How many new games are coming the second month though? Third month? Fourth?

You're right that this is just a curation of typical iOS games though. But according to the hype these games were supposed to be special.

Do you see yourself churning through all the games in the first month?

I've already gone though a decent number. Some only take 10 minutes to know it's not for me. Like Way of the Turtle which is for kids, or Sayonara which is pretentious garbage, or Mini Motorways which is a nice idea ruined by a pointless time limit mechanic.

Where Cards Fall also seems to have zero depth to the world and mechanics but I might give it a bit more time.

Assemble With Care is a good "interactive experience" (rather than "game") which I'd be willing to throw a couple of dollars towards, but it's only a few hours long, not something you have a monthly subscription for.

Let me know what you think. I’m interested because it’s Apple but I’m not optimistic.
