i really don't see the apple watch as a big thing, on the important side my "M" key is broken and need to get it fixed

----------

They really need to get this thing under the $200 mark.

it will be, with the battery life hopefully

I can't wait to see what apps you all dream up and how apple creates another ten years of new social behavior
Hopefully it won't be another ten years of people looking down and walking into fountains. Lawmakers better get busy inventing new laws to stop people from tapticing while driving. ;-)

No.
They.
Don't.

Look at the pebble steel, thats at the $200 and it doesn't have half the features that the apple watch has.

Look at the iPad, that was (and still is) very expensive, especially when comparing it to a laptop, but its still a great device that defined a new market.

The cost of most apple devices is a little high and people are constantly moaning about the cost of this product or that. For me though, the cost is usually worth it.

We'll have a clearer idea of the iPod's fate come the Beats Music relaunch. It's been a long time since Apple majorly updated anything to do with Music.

We already know the iPods fate and Beats Music relaunch.

Music has been commoditized with these streaming services. It is an essentialy dead market segment and it is depressing that Apple is focusing so much effort on it when it should be focusing on the future - video.

Just look at the earning of Amazon (prime) and Netflix. The fact that everyone has a video screen in their pocket is the death to the iPod and music.

And I'm going full bore on a Watch extension for my NewsBrain app that will let you see (or listen to) the news article most interesting to you at the moment.

God help us if there are ass-clowns yelling into their wrist in public or listening of news articles.

March Event, unannounced features

It's clear that we haven't seen the entire picture. Apple wouldn't reveal the killer features of the AppleWatch nearly a year ahead of time. My bet is on a March Apple Watch event where a major unannounced feature will be revealed.

I think we might see the Beats purchase leveraged. I imagine wireless earbuds that work with Siri to give the user a "Her" like experience where they can interact with Siri throughout the day. Lift your wrist to talk, receiving responses in your ear via Siri with visual info displayed on the watch. This is something made convenient with a watch, less so with a phone you have to pull out of your pocket to interact.

Can't wait for this device. It's going to be a massive success in every way. No doubt about it.

Right now, it is hard for me to imagine wanting to spend a lot of time staring at a watch for info when my iphone (at the least) is readily available.

Exactly. On the surface, Apple Watch = expensive excessiveness. So we'll see what other possibilities devs can dream up. For now at least, I'm holding until further functionality is revealed. Less than impressed thus far.

It might come in handy. My 6+ can only be removed from my pocket if my pants are in the most perfect alignment. Sitting down, for example, forget about it!

It's not here yet. The iPod, iMac, Apple TV, iPhone, and Mac Pro were understandable., The Apple Watch has non-intuitive benefits and features.

JJ

non intuitive may turn out to be non existant. the only rational for this
product is that--maybe its it going to be cool in ways no one anticipates.
I dont recall a product introduction ever working out that way Certainly not the iphone or ipad: each had clear value propositions. Maybe the ipod--because it was not immediately apparent how itunes would act as a
force multiplier.

is this even desirable? Spending your day talking to siri?

Everything that apple invintes was awesome and did great but this watch thing might not do good. :/

sure, apple is on a winning streak since the ipod. But pre ipod there were
many flubs.

It's WILL flop. We all know that. Even te mugs in here that will buy a gold lined dustbin of Aople made it. But. Here's the good news. Applencan afford to have these vanity projects so can have a dabble at soemthing that isn't a reIsed iPod. No. Wait. It is a resized ipod. Dammit. Well look. Don't worry when it flops. Aople will still be there. It'll take more than this White elephant to sink them thanks to their profits from the iphone. And other more siccessful resized iPhone projects like the iPad and ....iphone. Thanks

So 7 months is nearly a year now? There is no killer surprise feature coming. The early watch announcement was no different than any other recent new product announcement.

So you're expecting people to just constantly have a set of earbuds stuck in their ears at all times?

Stop buying skinny jeans. :D

Ah, so music, which has survived across all cultures, languages and for thousands of years is about to die?

Slight overreaction to iTunes sales levelling off and Spotify becoming popular, don't you think?

Honestly some people on here...

When iphone was announced, tons of people saw features that they wanted and bought one. Now though, it has evolved into something we cant live without, does more than we expected, and means more to us than the original reason we bought it. After all, the apps we use now weren't around in 2007. What we enjoy now is not why people bought it in 2007.

The Apple Watch could be the same. Just because you haven't seen a reason to buy it, doesn't mean the people who buy it wont discover new use cases that make you want one, or that developers won't add functionality, or that when Apple update it you won't want it.

Yeah, profits leveling off doesn't = music industry dying.

Exactly! And Apple has a fairer business model with Beats, right? :)

I'm almost certain the iPod will be discontinued, but then if Beats is part of the offerings, models like the Nano could be updated with wi-fi and a beats music app.

I'll not be getting an apple watch, but I am curious as to see what type of apps that will be produced. The form factor is so limiting, compared to the iPad, iPod and iPhone. Developers will really need to think out of the box to leverage their apps.

Loyalty

Doesn't make sense! Apple watch can only authenticate Pay in brick and mortar stores not in app. Why would they want one of their partners to have watchkit in their apps?

To tie the in-store payment to a customer loyalty program?
