Actually, this isn't 100% correct. HR made a bereavement exception for a guy in my training group to miss a day due to a death in his immediate family. He was back the next day. Based on his participation, I'm confident he passed the first exam today.

I think so far, I'm the only one that's actually said, "I should have listened to Angry Gerbil.". In any case, just because I wouldn't get within 12 parsecs of iTunes support doesn't mean others would not enjoy it. Just one,"I got billed $200 by Candy Crush." call is one too many for me.

Does anyone on this forum know how the hiring process works for college at home advisors? I am in school in one of the University's that Apple recruits from for at home advisors and I have several years of customer service experience on my resume. I just don't know if the process is like the regular At Home advisor or do you go through a different process. Any help is greatly appreciated.

As it stands...calls taper off a bit the last hour or two.
It's an easier process, based on my experience and what I've read here. I got an email from my university, filled out a brief questionnaire, got an email from Apple asking me to fill out an official application and schedule an interview (via Skype or Facetime), got another email to initiate the background check, and that was it.
There was one interview - full stop. No initial phone interview, no second Skype interview.
The background check, as far as I can tell, was less thorough than the ones many people have reported here. I know that one prior employer of mine is out of business and nobody ever asked me to prove I worked there. I also have a misdemeanor on my record and it didn't show up. (The application only asked about felonies, so I don't think this matters, but it was missing nonetheless.) It seems that they just checked with the school to verify my enrollment and ran a cursory background check to make sure I'm not a complete degenerate.
The downside to the easier hiring process is that college advisors get paid quite a bit less. I guess this is the tradeoff for the way they work the schedule around the school year. Plus a lot of college kids think it's so cool to work for Apple that they would take any wage, so there's not a lot of pricing pressure to make them pay more.

My second interview with the hiring manager is Tuesday morning. I'm pretty darn nervous.
Looking forward to tomorrow, which is only a few hours from now. Looking forward to "seeing" my fellow Sept 9th classmates tomorrow.
I think AngryGerbil may be a long, lost twin or something. My sentiments on everything are exactly the same. I appreciate challenges, and would much rather learn something every day than feel like my work was robotic, repetitive, and neverending.
I know, in a call center environment, that the work is neverending.... but at least in Tier 2 you get past the "help, I need my password reset" or "My screen won't come on! Tech: Did you push the power button first?" calls and actually dive into legitimate issues. I've spent 11 years now dealing with "Floyd from Alabama" lol.

Got my email today.......... 2nd interview has been pushed back another 2 weeks till the end of September. Projected start date is late November. With a month between interviews if I don't nail it I'll be even more frustrated!

My guess is that they're putting a moratorium on AHA hires until they have a better idea of what kind of call volume iOS 7/Mavericks and 5S's will generate. They've already hired a staggering number of AHA's in the last 6 months or so. They may either cut back on recruitment or step up the criteria for getting hired. That's pure speculation on my part though.

I hope they are stepping up the criteria.... My second interview is Tuesday the 17th, my first was on 8/29... What through me off on the first one was they went into "I am a customer" type situations and from reading this thread that usually does not happen until the 2nd or 3rd interview.... I was told in the first interview I am slated for 11/8... I am keeping my fingers crossed they are stepping up the criteria some because all of this red tape sucks..... thank god I am still setting up interviews with other companies that way if I am offered something and take it and the Apple thing doesn't pane out I will at least finally have a job....

By "stepping up the criteria" I meant making it harder to get hired, i.e. being more selective about who they hire.

@ AG, I should have know that is what you meant, but I just woke up and I am not fully awake at the moment. I jumped on here to see what was happening and should not have done that.... I should have waited for my brain to wake up first....
Well let me correct my previous post.... I hope they speed up the process.... I am more than qualified for the position. I have done call center work, I have well over 15 years in customer service and 5+ years technical service working with Windows software and Apple products....
I have not received an email asking to push my second interview back, so I am keeping fingers crossed it stays scheduled for the 17th.

I'd check this thread after the release of iOS 7, maybe some kindly advisor will post how busy the lines are... that may or may not affect their approach to hiring.
Honestly, I don't think past experience matters that much at all. There are people that got hired that wouldn't know the difference between POP3 and popcorn.

Like I said in previous post I already had some role playing during my first interview which from this thread does not happen until the 2nd or 3rd interview. I have been unemployed since June and unemployment benefits do not even come close to covering bills, so I am just anxious to get back to work so I can get caught up on everything....and start saving to buy a car....
So based on my first interview and the instant feedback I got from them it sounds very promising.... 🙂
