In no rational, reasonable jurisdiction should this sort of thing ever be considered patent worthy. Period.

that these types of patents are necessary, if these patents don't exist then all Smart phones will start to look the same and their will be straight out copies of androids and iPhones.

What do those have in common with patenting something obvious like putting someone's picture behind their message?

Except perhaps that none of those things should be patentable.

Thank goodness that dress shirts don't have fan forums, or we'd be hearing the same kind of comparisons between pastel shirts with button down collars, similar sleeve lengths, lookalike buttons, and almost exact inside labels on cleaning care.

My post wasn't totally serious. For me the copying part is basically using the same hues as 5C and the fact that most Android tablets are 16:9 but this one is 4:3. Plus their marketing materials are so close to Apple's. You know it's bad when posters on tech sites like Engadget and cnet (certainly not Apple fanboys) are calling out blatant copying. How hard would it have been to pick different colors?

I don't know.. I think this should of been done back when they added the photos for contacts, like when you make phone calls. Its sort of cool, but why worry about it now...

It's like they are testing how ridiculous a patent can be before it gets rejected.

News flash apple is a huge company! They can do multiple thing at once.

Do you want to remind them of that.

They do more time making things look good for the sad little Facebook crowd than they do concentrating on making things work.

If they spent half as much time on re-writing there software as they do in court every would "Just work".
