I don't mind having another option; not the point. What matters is that Apple had the nerve to design such crap and then price said crap at such a ridiculous price. On top of that Apple didn't even have to release a battery case. There is no shortage of battery cases on the market today. This product hurts my respect in Apple; much more than the Apple Watch. They better design the crap out of the iPhone 7 and don't let the moron who designed the case touch it.

I guess you missed / disregarded all the people above you in the thread who say that despite thinking like that originally, they actually really like it after handling it or buying one themselves?

If Mophie sold the same case without the Apple logo this thread would not exist. People would not care.

I had bought the Anker case about a week before Apple released their case. I bought it as a gift for my nephew who always seems to be running out of battery each day on his iPhone 6. I ended up buying the Apple case as well so I could compare. The Apple one feels so much better to hold. Not just the materials, but even the unsightly hump really aids with using it with one hand. It doesn't feel as bulky, even though it is heavier. Also much prefer the native lightning port rather than having to have another cable. The Anker does have a much bigger battery and is lighter and at $40 is a MUCH less expensive. I do highly recommend Anker products as I have had very good luck with them, and even the one product I didn't the customer service was excellent, and they are priced extremely well.

I'm going to give my nephew the choice of which one he wants and I'll take the other, but kinda hoping he chooses the Anker.

Correct that the thread would not exist (Mophie releasing another battery case wouldn't be a remarkable event and therefore would not be considered news), however, people that want/need a battery case would definitely care. I'd definitely care, because if Mophie made this, I could have saved myself 25 or 50 bucks.

You are entitled to your opinion but man, why are you taking a the fact that a $200B company released a battery case so personally? It's just a consumer product that you do NOT have to buy. Nothing more.

Amen. There has been a LOT of drama over this case. Not sure I understand the extreme hatred this thing is getting. It's just a case.

Yeah. I was a little bummed to find there was this much idle drain. Overall it still brings a major improvement to the phone's battery alone though.
Cheers. Any other similar observations at idle? I am a little bit surprised by this faster consumption than native battery at iso conditions. Thanks all

Except this is a good quality product (unlike most of the battery cases on the market) and Apple did a very smart move: I'd choose an apple product over any third party, especially when battery is involved.

Did anyone check if this work with edge to edge 3D screen protector? (esp. imos and ICE MAX as they are thicker than Cinder)

Guys, do you leave your battery case always connected to the phone or only when needing extra juice?

2nd question. Does it happen to you that iphone battery drops to 99 or 98% even with battery case still partially charged and during relative intensive use?

Cheers

When I use the case I usually start with both st 100% and leave it in the case until I'm ready to take it off. The case is designed to leave on full time.

I've never seen the phone drop below 100% with the case on, but I could see that being possible with really heavy use at full brightness. It's been said that with the Smart Case on that it uses the case battery first and then it's own, but the way these things work is the case is just keeping your phone topped up while you use it. So if your use outpaces the case's ability to discharge into your phone you could see a percentage drop like that.

If I'm wrong about the way I described the way the case keeps the phone topped up, I'd encourage anyone to correct me on that.

I effing love the smart battery case.

After using it for a week or so, I can't express enough how amazing it is to just forget about my phones battery level and do whatever I want. Often times, I'll stay at my girlfriends house on short notice and cant charge my phone. I wake up in the morning and my phone is practically gasping for charge, struggling to make the journey to work.

Did exactly the same this week but with the case on, and I woke up in the morning to a phone that was still fully juiced, even after using the phone to death the evening before.

People can say what they like, but the pros of this case (amazing battery, protection and grip) far outweigh the cons (losing the slim design, heavier device, the hump; although it's not as bad as they claim on the web).

I completely agree with this. If you start the day with phone/battery fully charged, you no longer have worry or even think about battery usage during the day/night unless you are doing something truly extreme. In use, it's transparent (other than the need to carry a headphone jack extender), and the design and operation, in my view, are a huge improvement over other battery cases. I'd rather carry an external battery than use a battery case other than Apple's.

Yes, Apple's battery case does highlight the fact that for users who benefit from an external battery, we'd benefit even more with a phone with a larger built-in battery. But I know plenty of others who have no problem getting through the day with the 6s' battery, and would not trade off slimness for more battery capacity that they do not need.

Picked up my battery case today and I'm very happy with it so far. Very comfortable to hold and use. I think I understand why Apple offcentered the lightening port too, I rest my pinky right there when holding the phone one handed, instead of having a lightening port poking into my finger I have the comfortable silicone case.

All in all, very happy so far.

I am happy too but surprised by the high drain at idle i.e. with phone in stand-by. Almost 9% loss in about 2.5h. Huge indeed despite a long juice is provided when using the phone normally (i am at 4h use with 1/3 battery remaining but i could have had more without drain).
