Apple TV+ subscribers who have paid for an annual or monthly plan have begun receiving emails from Apple letting them know that they'll be credited $4.99 for each month subscribed through January 2021. The amount varies based on Apple TV+ pricing in other countries, including $5.99 per month in Canada and $7.99 per month in Australia.

The credit will be applied to a subscriber's Apple ID and can be used for games, movies, and other Apple services. Apple says the credits are being provided as means of thanking users for subscribing to the service.

Last month, Apple TV+ subscribers who have free access to the service through an eligible device purchase beginning in September 2019 were sent emails by Apple letting them know that the one-year trial would be extended until February 2021. Apple says the trial extensions are being offered so ‌Apple TV+ subscribers have more time to check out the latest Apple original content.

I had a one year subscription (paid not free), cancelled it just before it was due to end a few weeks ago and then signed up for Apple One so I’ve got TV+ again. I got the email saying I would get $7.99 (Australia) per month through January.

Does anyone here actually pay for a subscription? ATV+ has be free with item purchase or free with trials or free with other services. Who would need to pay? US perspective. Things may be different outside of 'Merica.

I think they only give it to new device buyers who haven't previously benefitted from the new device 12 month offer?

Seems a bit mean to me. $1000+ device year on year however this year Apple say no. That said, for me it's no great loss. I haven't felt moved to actually watch a single show on mine.

I have not paid for it since Apple TV+ launched, due to always buying new devices.

I just bought the iPhone 12 Pro Max (Pacific Blue) so I should be set for another year, if they are still doing that?

What happens after February?

I have not taken advantage of any free days/12 months. Just bought the iPhone 12 Pro Max, still says 7 days, even after I click I just get "Apple TV+ free for 1 week".

They should be, unless they straight up lied at last years event.

Go back and watch it and Tim Cook says (obviously not verbatim) that if you buy eligible devices you should never have to pay for Apple TV+.

Just pulled this article up, it explains everything:

The offer can only be redeemed one time per Apple ID or Family Sharing group. If you buy additional devices you will not get additional trial time.

Greedy Apple giving away money? Hmmm... Sounds like they’re desperate. I’d be too if I had wasted millions of dollars in a lackluster service that is flopping. I wish Apple TV+ wouldn’t flop and I hope Foundation pushes it up but in the world of Netflix and Disney+ I think Apple TV+ is poised to flop unless Apple acquires a major studio.

It’s no hbo but I like Apple TV. There’s 4 shows I am super into. And the best part is unlike Netflix they actually give 2nd season. Ted lasso is approved for three season already. Netflix has long lines of one session show which is a bummer.

I bought two MacBooks on the 4th July. One was for my wife, and was not opened until the 30th July. It was then activated on the 1st August as we went away for two days. On the 27th October, tried to start the year free trial and were only offered 7 days. After contacting Apple support, I was told the 3 months (actually 90 days) starts from the day of purchase, and that I could not have the offer as that time had passed. I told them that according to both their website, and the terms and conditions (which ironically they sent me and asked me to read) it says from the day of ACTIVATION/setup not purchase, and they are not the same date. I bought them on Apple.com on the 4th, they were not even delivered until the 9th. Long story short, he spoke to his manager who contacts me and refereed it to another team blah blah and the final answer was according to them the date the computer was setup was out of the time limit (they would not tell me when) and the answer was a firm “no”. Very surprised by their attitude. Will probably still get the new one subscription anyway as I am currently paying both iCloud and Music.

This is true. My wife bought the iPhone 11 in October 2019 and we signed up for the free ATV+. In May I got the SE. Tried to sign up but couldn’t. Contacted Apple and they said I didn’t get the free offer because we do the family sharing.
