Apple has been offering certified refurbished 16-inch MacBook Pro models in the United States for a couple of weeks now, but today it started selling refurb 16-inch models through its international online stores for the first time since the notebook was released in November 2019. All of the refurbished configurations are discounted by 15 percent compared to the equivalent brand new models.

In the United Kingdom for example, a Silver 16-inch MacBook Pro 2.6GHz 6-core Intel Core i7 is listed for £2,039, down from £2,399, offering a £360 saving on the original price. The same savings are being offered on a Space Grey 16-inch MacBook Pro with matching specs.

Refurbished 16-inch MacBook Pro models have also been spotted in Apple's online refurb stores in Germany and Japan.

Apple says refurbished 16-inch MacBook Pro models are thoroughly inspected, tested, cleaned, and repackaged with a 96W USB-C power adapter and USB-C cable in the box. In our view, a refurbished MacBook Pro is virtually indistinguishable from a brand new model, so this represents a good opportunity for savings.

Keep in mind that third-party resellers frequently offer better deals than Apple's refurbished prices, so be sure to shop around.

A refurbished MacBook Pro comes with Apple's standard one-year warranty effective on the date the notebook is delivered. The warranty can be extended to three years from the refurbished purchase date with AppleCare+ for Mac, which costs £399 for the 16-inch MacBook Pro in the U.K.

(Thanks, Tommy!)

In 10 years in the Netherlands I've never seen a Mac in the refurbished store (basically just iPads and iPods)... it's the tough part of living in a micro-country... and you can't have one shipped from the UK or Germany :/ Plus to this day no Apple Watch with LTE (not Apple's fault, just the carriers not wanting to bother with eSIM)

These are the 6C models only. While still a good machine, I'm waiting on the 8C models to show-up here before I pull the trigger.

The MacBook Pro 16in has been one of my best Mac and MacBooks I have owned. Great keyboard, fast graphics, fast processsor, run great not a single problem with it and I have owned it from day one. I would recomend this machine to anyone needed a new computer. I have a Razer GPU and a AMD Vega 64 card. Going to upgrade the video card to the super duper AMD video card coming in the fall. that is what is great, you can upgrade the graphics card with a EGPU to keep the machine pretty current for many years.

Buy one you will love it.

Great! Available in Canada as well! I was waiting for this and ended up formatting my Late 2013 rMBP earlier this week and going straight to Catalina. So far so good so I may have just bought myself some more time before upgrading. Fortunately? Unfortunately? :p

Only last night before this story broke I spotted these in the UK refurb store and was so close to cancelling my BTO 16 imch MBP order for one of these. With nearly a £500 discount its an amazing deal however I just couldn’t trust a refurb if it was returned for display issues which is so fundamental to a laptop.

8c models are on there too - they just dont hang around for long! Bought a 2.4g i9/5500m 8gb model earlier today from the uk store (£440 off).

i did discover one oddity though - when I browsed the page on a desktop browser I only saw a small selection of 6c machines ; browsing from an iphone there were loads more models available inc the 8c ones. Not sure what that was about, but worth trying when the next batch turn up maybe!

Buy one they're great :)

Dont buy it now! Its buggy.

I am and many other users see apple forum are facing several bugs with my new Macbook Pro 16 i9 AMD Radeon 5500M:

  • Blue Pixel Tint on internal and external display with AMD on
  • Drains constantly 20w Power with AMD on when connected to external display
  • Drains 10w power when AMD Radeon with only internal display on. Cant deactivate discrete graphis, so battery drains fast even when you dont need the power like with sketch or some chrome sites in idle, they turn AMD on.
  • This leads to hot MBP 16 and fans noise even while doing normal low cpu stuff like internet and sketch design. 2015 MBP was dead silent.
  • Throttles CPU 10% with AMD (just because connected to external monitor, 20w AMD power supply!) while heavy cpu load (video conversion)
  • Drains constantly battery under heavy load like video conversion in handbrake while connected to Power (140w peak Power and 100w+ permanent use)

This MacBook AMD Combo is still beta.

Will return my 2nd MBP 16 tomorrow and wait until apple fixes these issues

Will they fix the issue with dramatically increased power-drain when using an external 4k display?

That's what is worrying me.
Many AMD and power drain bugs still there and apple doesnt do anything. Would wait for a fix before buying. Its a mess.
