D-Link today announced that its new Omna 180 Cam HD camera, unveiled at CES 2017 last month, is now available to purchase at Apple.com for $199.95.

The cylindrical Omna 180 Cam HD features a 1080p camera with a 180-degree field of view, a built-in microphone and speaker with two-way audio, infrared night vision up to 16 feet, and motion detection with the option to record motion-triggered video clips directly to a microSDXC card up to 128GB with no subscription costs.

HomeKit support enables users to control the Omna 180 Cam HD with an iPhone or iPad through Apple's Home app on iOS 10. When the camera detects motion, users can receive Lock screen notifications to get a snapshot of what's happening in their homes. The camera can also trigger Scenes with other HomeKit products.

D-Link said the Omna 180 Cam HD camera will also be available to purchase at Apple retail stores around the world later this month.

Exactly, I want deterance to start outside... where are the HomeKit outdoor cameras? Please release some!
Although expensive, and they serve a dual purpose... Look into Ring Camera's. As they release new products, they have the Homekit Chip in them and will be announcing the capability hopefully Q1 2017.

Surely that thing is not nearly a foot tall, which is how it appears in that picture.

Is that the company making that outdoor flood light that is HomeKit compatible and has a built-in camera? My uncle installed their doorbell camera thing a few days before he suddenly died last month. He seemed to really like it so far. He would always buy the fancy new tech and tell me what is good and let me try it out.

So does anyone know exactly how this is integrated with the home app? Can you view the camera directly in the home app or do you have to use d-link's app still?

Does anybody know if you can set it up (either in the Home app or the Omna app) to play the camera's audio capture in the background on your iPhone so it can be used as a baby monitor?

Is it 100% plastic or is the silver/grey case/body made of aluminum? Based on the pics and nowhere mentioning it I would say it's plastic-plastic all the way.

Anyone that knows this for a fact?

Sounds like a great uncle.

I'm also looking for an outside camera so I'll give that doorbell thing a look see. Thanks.
Yes, and was a good dad. His youngest was still in high school. He didn't get to use the thing very long, but it seemed good. He was very platform agnostic, switching between phones depending on the day (iOS, Android, Windows Phone) and had Windows and Mac machines. So I always heard from him a good, well rounded opinion—and most of the time, especially in the last several years, he tended towards Apple stuff. Especially for tablets and watches. He would have made a good tech blogger, actually, but he was always so busy hanging out with his boys that he never tried. My dad and I stopped speaking over a year ago, so he had slowly become more of a father figure to me. IDK why I'm talking about this on here, but I think of him all the time, and that post reminded me of one of the last things we spoke about.

You mean the doorbell died?

Yeah their product is good but subscription based i believe.

It's not an outdoor camera. Humidity will probably kill it in a few weeks. It's for indoor use, like a living room.

The point of Scene support is for a situation whereby if an intruder is able to get into your home, and pass by the camera, it will trigger a "scene" which you may have programmed to turn on a bunch of lights, to act like someone is home and deter or scare off the intruder.
