No it won't.
Agreed...the folks who patrol the tech forums know all about the transition - case in my point, during my school PTO many parents told me that they have already gone to Apple and bought Macbook Airs for their kids for the school year - these people don't know anything about release cycles, refurbs, Intel/Arm or even to go to Bestbuy to get a better price, etc.

Apple refurbs are a great way to go for those looking to save some money. Can't beat em since you get the same warranty as new. Typing this message on an Apple refub'd iMac that was purchased several years ago. It has treated me very well so far. Probably have a good 1-2 years left in it before it'll be time to upgrade again.

Would be curious as to why the original customer returned it? I am suspecting it’s a YouTuber who didn’t get enough views on his channel. 😆
I accepted a new job, bought this computer, and then thanks to the COVID overreaction was laid off only three weeks later. So I returned it in pristine condition.

The lack of discrete GPU and heat issues is probably why people in this thread have seen these on the refurb shop a lot. This is really early to start seeing these models on there. The 13” isn’t a great option for anybody doing any heavy lifting. It’s “pro” monicker doesn’t fit its design.

It's not early to see devices in the Refurb Store three months after the release date. That's pretty normal, in fact.

Just to update a little about the savings, some of the CTOs are $260 and $300 off. I compared a couple examples. The refurb $1439 (i5/16/512 1.4GHz, new $1699, savings $260) and $1699 (i7/16/512 1.7GHz, new $1999, saving $300). Nice savings and fast shipping too.

$200 off the 10th gen i5 with 1TB/16GB 13" at B&H, and brand new.
Best Buy will price match this as well. It's how I got my 16" last December.
I was all in on Refurbs from Apple for a long time until both B&H and BestBuy started pushing out new units at the same discounted prices, a month before they even showed up in the Refurbs store page.

And you can't beat the shipping time of walking into a brick and mortar BestBuy with the B&H page pulled up on your phone, and walking out with your new MBP moments later.
edit: Of course, not really an option if you want to stray into more BTO options.

This was launched May 4th 2020. How do they have refurbs already? Usually there is a painfully long wait for refurbs to appear on the Apple site.

Is it not odd that this is only for the 2-port (8th Gen) models and not the 4-port (10th Gen) models?

At the very least, this will make the 2-port (8th Gen) models worth considering; priced new or even with educational pricing, they're not worth it next to the 4-port (10th Gen) models.

Hopefully the 4 port 10 gens will show up at some point.
