Apple today began selling refurbished second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case on its online store in the U.S. for $209, compared to $249 brand new.

Apple updated the AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case in September 2023. Other changes at the time included improved IP54-rated dust resistance for both the earbuds and the case, and lossless audio with Apple's Vision Pro headset.

Apple says all of its refurbished products undergo "full functionality testing" and are "put through a thorough cleaning process and inspection."

Keep in mind that Amazon is currently selling brand new second-generation AirPods Pro with a USB-C charging case for $189.99 in the U.S., which is a much better deal than Apple's refurbished store is offering for the earbuds.

Refurbished charging case? Sure, why not.

Refurbished/used earbuds? uhh no thanks - sanitary reasons as other people said

Talking of this, what happens if you go to the store to try them on? Do they just wipe them down with a sanitising tissue or something? What about 14 day returns - sold as refurbs?

Just kidding. Yeah it's also something I would never buy refurb let alone second hand. It's like buying a second hand mattress... gross...

if apple refurbs it, i'd wander a guess they've been cleaned. would be pretty easy to tell upon inspecting the product at purchase.

which is entirely not at all even remotely like buying a second-hand mattress, which is reasonable to expect hasnt been deep cleaned...

just like others have already said ... when I started reading the article on the front page and saw the price I was like WTF?? Constantly on sale, somewhere ... I'll probably treat myself to some at a good Black Friday deal ;)

Refurbished, and they couldn't throw in a new USC-C case. 🤦‍♂️

Edit: I need new glasses 😞

Yeah. The refurbished stuff is sometimes not a great deal.
The Refurb store hasn't been any sort of a deal in years. I got a late 2012 27" iMac fully spec'd for 800 dollars off in late 2013 from the refurb store, which was a smoking deal for something that was effectively brand new. Flash forward to today and they have 4-5 year old units with 100-200 bucks off the original retail price when they first launched. Couple this with the ludicrously low trade in offers on used Apple tech (135 bucks for a stainless steel series 8 is spit-take laughable, Apple, seeing how you had them listed at 509.00 just a couple months ago) and their profit margins on this market are stupid inflated.
