On the contrary, you are usually buying a product that was far more rigorously tested than one that rolled off the assembly line. I'd buy a refurb Apple devices over new any day.
That sounds extremely unfortunate. I’ve purchased a variety of "certified refurbished" devices from Apple and have never had issues with them. They all were like new. The Cinema display is but one example, it was accompanied by a refb. Mac Pro (see my sig); I’ve also bought a refb. iPad Air- no issues whatsoever. The Mac Pro is retired but last time I fired it up it worked like on day 1.
With all the positive feed back on my negative comment I may have to reconsider buying refurbished from Apple Products.

For some of their products maybe. I bought a refurbished iPad Pro M1 and the battery life has been terrible since “day 1”. I have a feeling I got a very old battery with my refurb.
Have the same iPad since summer 2024, used daily. Battery still at 100% health (which does not prove anything).
Respectfully diagree about Apple refurbished products.....only ones I trust. Many years and products I've purchased when possible from Apple's refurbished category on the website. Brand new cases, packaging, boxes....can't tell any difference from brand new. Never had a problem of any kind with Apple Refurbs. Savings aren't huge for that reason, but $2-300 will pay the taxes at least. In fact, just saw that refurbished Studio Monitors are available for the first time in the US and feeling bad that I had to pay full price after saving up for over a year. (Did wait for some Black Friday savings :0)). I had to replace an old 2012 iMac with the wonderful large screen...ideal for spreadsheets and split screens. Purchased a lower level Studio computer and tried (failed) to find a way to use the old iMAC screen as a dedicated monitor for it, since it was still perfect. Looked at less expensive monitors, but despite similar specs, they absolutely don't compare to the depth, richness, and detail of the Apple Studio. Light years better. Hoping this one lasts 12+ years like pretty much all my old Apple products.
