A bit off topic, sorry, but how do you achieve that turned up edges effect as used on this letter from Apple?

I assume that by "via credit card" the article means both credit and debit cards? It drives me nuts when people call them both credit cards.

Also, who on earth still uses cheques to pay for things these days? Does Apple even take them?

I got my order confirmation but it certainly isn't shipping!

"We estimate your order to be shipped by 30 Aug, 2010.
We expect your order will arrive by post to your shipping address on or before 01 Sep, 2010."

LONG

In France also...

I have ordered the Apple bumper last Friday through the dedicated App. The information given by Apple in the order confirmation was delivery before August, 31st.
I received a mail yesterday afternoon saying that my bumper has been shipped and should be delivered in a few days. Good job Apple.

I think the users should know be happy : all the tests show that except when you hold your Iphone the "wrong" way, it has better reception than the 3GS, especially in low signal conditions. With the bumper, it will now ALWAYS have a better reception than the 3GS. Isn't it beautiful ?

Same here in Germany...

Got my confirmation email this morning that says...your black bumper has been shipped and will be delivered within 4-5 business days. I think I ordered it on Friday as well. Had to wait for my iPhone four weeks so it feels good to at least get the bumper soon.

How about the time he said, "There is no reception issue. Stay tuned."* (Or if all smartphones suffer from this, why didn't they do anything similar with the previous three generations?)

I agree that the media are probably overhyping the situation, but things like this make me wonder about Apple's response.

*I know it's not from that event...

That was an off-the-cuff comment in an email between him and a user, and he indirectly addressed that at the press conference by admitting that Apple didn't have enough data prior to that. So he made a poorly informed assumption. This rush for people to attribute to the entire company something Steve Jobs said in what was ostensibly a private email is pathetic and tiresome and yet another sign of exactly the media overreaction Jobs commented on at the event. What Jobs said at the press conference was their official response. If it wasn't said there (as you acknowledge) it's irrelevant.

Why do you quote it then?

They said, there is an issue for very few people. They provided free bumpers.
You just want to bitch around, quoting a statement made a few days after release.

In essence, it won't be that long. It's to cover their arses with stock being tight on them.

My bumper has been sent out as of last night :D.

I got a bumper free when i bought my reserved iP4 at launch - generally i like it but the iP4 is ENJOYABLE in your hand, as a lovely piece of industrial design, that putting even something as minor as the bumper changes the feel and look drastically. so at home i lea`ve it bare and when i know i will have a busy day or travel alot the bumper goes on...let's hope i don't drop it when the bumper's off :(

ps - i ordered a PixelSkin HD re: free case offer as a 2nd 'case' option.

to those who bought an iPhone 4 bumper case have you receive your refund already?

I got the email yet I haven't seen the money in the bank so far.

I bought two bumbers from the Westfield Apple store in London at around 18:00 on the launch day and got my refund last Friday (23/07/10).

Seriously..this is a front page NEWS item !
Are screenshots of minutae like apple communications necessary or even important?

news from germany

Hi,
i also received an email from apple this morning, saying that my bumper will arrive in 5 days. So it doesn't seem to be an UK exclusive.

I'm going to order my iPhone 4 later this week.

Is there anyway of me guaranteeing/ordering free bumper in advance? I'm not too keen on the 3rd party cases!

In advance of what? Or did you mean to say you're going to order your iPhone 4 later this week?

It's the phone mate, I can not only reproduce the problem on my handset. But walk into the apple store and do the same on any of the phones in the store on the 4 UK networks it's been released on..!!. So I can't imagine how the combination of this phone and ATT will be making the problem.

Would have returned mine for a refund however in the UK we only get 7 days instead of the 30 in the US. By the time I had realised the extent of the problem it was a little to late. But it's deffo got the worst reception of any phone I've had in about 8 years. Which is a real shame as in every other respect it's a great piece of kit.

If the case doesn't sort it I'm gonna kick up a fuss with Vodafone and get a Blackberry 9105. As a phone with dodgy reception and call quality is no good to me regardless of how great the rest of the handset is :(

Received a email telling me that my bumper has been shipped as of yesterday. So I look forward to seeing if it sorts the problem.

Very strange there mate. I'm on vodafone in the UK and I have had better reception than ever with my iPhone 4. I get reception and carry on calls even in places that my 3GS dropped them.

I only put a case on recently and I can no longer replicate "death grip" even though the death grip didn't affect me in real world usage.

Not saying you not suffering, but just telling my side.

I'm in nw London......maybe that is just a good area for vodafone 3g

Got my phone June 24, ordered my bumper 1 week later received it two weeks ago, got my refund. No complaints. Love the phone. Love the bumper. I rule.

Refreshing to see someone who ISNT complaining on these boards! Am please for you dude. I am also in the same boat as you... ie HAPPY! :)

No... we also get 30 days. In fact im pretty sure it says on the receipt that you have 14 days which was extended to 30 just like it was in the US.
