Does Apple offer any deals on Black Friday? Particularly New MacBooks or iPod Nanos?? Im just wondering if i should wait that extra week to take advantage of any BF deals that Apple might offer. Do they usually offer such deals?

Yes...last year they offered $101 discounts on iBooks and iMacs, as well as discounts on iSight, AirPort Express, .Mac, and other third-party accessories. No discounts on iPods.

2004 saw discounts on iMacs and iPods, as well as some accessories.

Was it at the Apple store or Apple.com?
Are they having doorbuster BF like everyone else is doing this year?

Anyone notice something funky with the Apple Store? The main page takes forever to load, and most of the links just hand there. Perhaps updating with all those Black Friday goodies? :D

Another Question: Are these black friday deals at apple only for one day? or are are they like for the whole holiday shopping season?

Of course Apple offers deals on Black Friday, even air is cheaper during the 3 days after thanksgiving.

typically, the discounts are no better, and sometimes worse, than edu/gov pricing, so if you can get those prices, this is pretty ho-hum.

If they knock $100 off MacBooks like they did last year, it's a better deal than the $50 EDU discount on the entry-level MB.

But yes, in most cases, EDU prices are as good or better.

Any possibility of getting 10% off of an iMac during Black Friday? Has this been done in the past? I can get the Edu discount, but wondering if it is worth the wait until Friday, as if I do wait, I'll get thrown in with everyone else ordering and have some delays.

Take a chance now with my edu discount and get it sooner or wait until Friday?

It wouldn't surprise me if iMacs were discounted on Friday...they were the last two years. But they were only discounted by $101, so your EDU discount would have essentially been as good as (or better if you customize with upgrades than) the Black Friday discount.

We of course have no knowledge of the exact discounts we'll see this year, but past history suggests you might be better off with the EDU discount.

Showing my ignorance here!

What's Black Friday?

The day after Thanksgiving...busiest shopping day of the year in the US. It's called Black Friday because it's historically it's been the time when retailers begin to turn a profit for the year.

Stores have all sorts of huge sales (often with insanely-priced doorbuster deals on a few items to get people in the door) and open very early (many stores by 6 AM).
