Thats what I worry about. That is what worries me most. If people like you and me, and I used to change phones every single year, iPads every other, are changing their buying habits, then they are in trouble.
Before it was just that you had the price of a new phone for new features, now it is the price of a new phone + x$ for new features which leads people to closely examine whether these new features are really worth the money, it seems more and more people decide that this is not the case and extend their upgrade cycles.
Why do you think Apple is no longer breaking out sales of each model of phone- because they are selling more older phones than newer phones.A valid point...if the sales were decreasing.
Its easy to lie.And then when they launch a product, they say "this is the most affordable XYZ yet"...
Read between the lines and while anecdotal, there has never been so much complaining about Apple increasing prices. Please use facts next time and don’t read headlines.
You do realise that many of these "Apple haters" are not actual haters but Apple customers like myself, having a whinge?Shush. Don’t let the facts get in the way of the Apple haters when they are one of their infamous rants.![]()
Indeed. You do realise that many of these "Apple haters" are not actual haters but Apple customers like myself, having a whinge?
On the subject of facts, why is Apple not breaking out the sales figures?
Why is the profit margin decreasing while device price had increased 62% in 6 years?
For me it goes like this:Pretty sure this has to do with phones reaching a peak and desire to upgrade each year is fading. after all, the iPhone is their main money maker.
It's like some appliances manufacturers (usually with made up weird German brand names) that charge 2000€ for a dish washer. I don't even care what it does. I know a 500€ Bosch or Siemens (also German) will be more that adequate.
Amazing how so many will read a headline and make stuff up concluding Apple’s products are priced too high.
Note9 US: $999 EU: 999€
iPhone XS US: $999 EU: 1149€
(both US prices excl. tax)
There es a large enough Buffer for Apple to not be affected by exchange rates.
Given how much more expensive the iPhone line up is now the effective unit sales number must be a lot smaller.
Let me add that the Note 9 cost the same amount in € - 999€
It's not like Samsung is not affected by currency effects.
The Euro has been even weaker in the past. So don’t worry. And Apple certainly has increased its prices in Europe. We pay 10-20% more in Dollar than you guys - and that is not including the high European income tax. All in all Apple products are up to 35% more costly here. Sales will certainly take a hit.The weak € will definitely lower Apple's revenue in dollars unless they hike prices. It is a shame that a currency once 1.5x the dollar has been destroyed between the Greek debt crisis, then Brexit and all of the political chaos. It's now much cheaper for me to visit Europe but it is a disaster for the European people.
