I don't know if this is just a Ventura thing; but I have a few pdf books that I owned and read on iPhones and iPad easily on the Apple Books app; but when I wanted to read it on my Mac OS the pdf books would open to preview instead of internally in the books app where the files exist in. Was wondering if anybody else can test this out. I have reported this issue since Apple Books Library literally has a pdfs option and yet on Mac OS it would open on a separate app

I tested it out and got the same result, it opened in Preview instead of the Books app. I never used the Books app so I'm not sure if it was different before. I'll go back to Monterey on another Mac and check if it stays on the Books app.

Maybe right click on the PDF > Open With > Books.
You can select which app opens PDFs, it can be Preview, Adobe Acrobat Reader or Books if it is a book.

I tested Books now and the main window with the book collection disappears and reappears repeatedly and one book even vanished. 🤔

LOL
It looks like all the versions of MacOS have this issue.
The most crucial issue is that the reading process in 3 platforms(ios, macos, ipados) is different.
