They faced development challenges causing a delay. That sounds familiar. What’s going on with their engineering teams these days?

AirPower aside this stuff is all based on rumors.

In the past, when not every single product leaked months in advance, you had no way of knowing the original timeline for product releases. I'm sure Apple had to reschedule releases multiple times, we just didn't notice.

Every review I read praised its sound quality, even audiophile forums. The main criticism was the price (and really the price). People loved it, just not enough to shell out $350 for it.

Honestly: I wouldn't mind the price, if I could play content the way I want without Apple restricting me.

I don't even care about the smart speaker part, a great sounding small speaker that looks clean and is as flawlessly used as AirPods would be enough for me.

Recently bought H9i's in attempt to replace my H7s and very disappointed with the boomy base on the H9i's instead of the tight solid ones on the H7s. Hope Apple can show us how it's done and give me a worthy upgrade over my H7s. Will definitely wait for this.
Off topic but, boomy is absolutely the opposite of how I'd describe the sublimely smooth and controlled sub bass extension on the H9i (I also had the H7 previously).

Now, if you want boomy muddy bass, that would be the Sony 1000XM3s - I'm amazed at how many people seem to love the signature on these let alone the cheap plastic/pleather build quality.

I've had the H9i, Bowers PX and the XM3s and whilst on some tracks the PX signature really shines out, overall the H9i sounds pretty great with almost anything.

If the HomePod’s and AirPods’ sound quality are anything to go by, these headphones will sound like crap. But at least you’ll be a cool hipster with the latest fashion and signal to everyone you make way more money than you should.
Funny... as someone who has very little interest in AirPods (SQ is a concern, but more than that, I’m in the group who finds apple ear buds uncomfortable), I am looking forward to Apple’s over-the-ear headphones, precisely because the HomePods actually sound great. Hell, maybe Apple can make them super expensive by throwing a WiFi chip in there and making them AirPlay compatible so I can listen to uncompressed music on them wirelessly.

Yeah I still haven’t pulled the trigger on wireless over the ear headphones— have the BeoPlay H6 and they suit me perfectly... but apparently none of their wireless offerings sound like that. Pity.
