Hello everyone, I'm so excited for the upcoming apple store in India, it's a very welcome move. Well, I have a question as below -

I can see that on Apple US website it is mentioned that Apple will charge 99$ for battery replacement of iPhone X (out-of-warranty) and above series. Also, it's mentioned that one can mail/ship their iPhone to Apple for paying a shipping cost of 7$ and they'll replace the battery and send the iPhone back to the customer.

Now, coming to India, till the present date ( 9/18/2020) there's no mention of battery replacement cost on Apple India's website and Apple's customer support says to call/contact your local 3rd party authorized seller as Apple US customer support has no knowledge of above and coming to 3rd party sellers they charge a hefty cost and moreover they'll never tell battery replacement charges over the phone or email (believe me, I did email them, call them, but no avail) and one has to go in person to talk to them and it can be hassle for someone who are not living in big cities just to confirm the price of battery replacement and in COVID-19 world some of us don't like to travel just to ask for battery replacement.

Coming to India, Apple treats 1 USD to 100 INR (for most of his products) and that's okay as customer can't do anything about that (we have been dealt a bad hand) and so, for 99$ battery replacement for an iPhone or iPad Pro 10.5 will cost 10,000 INR but one of my friend said the battery replacement of her iPad Pro 10.5 was quoted at 30,000 INR by Apple 3rd party retailer which is beyond absurd.

Moreover, if you google search Apple iPhone Battery replacement cost in India and I can bet, you can go above and beyond, you can scrounge the whole Internet and you won't get a single trusted article on the whole Internet. Yes, go on and try, you're more than welcome.

This causes me a great deal of frustration and it deeply saddens me.

So, will Apple bringing an Apple Online Store to India get India customers to have hassle free battery replacements and repairs?

Will Apple India accept iPhone and iPads via mail for battery replacement as it does in the USA?.

Will we Indians get battery replacement costs mentioned upfront on Apple website?

Please someone answer this.

Thank you!

Unsure how you expect anyone to answer these questions since you're asking for information that only Apple have.

I'm sorry, I thought that maybe US or any other country's customers can reassure that we in India will get same services and experiences which other countries get to enjoy? I mean, I was just asking that does Apple offer same online store service regardless of country? Is it an universal mechanism?

Nope - each country has its own set of rules, regulations and policies.

Maybe now they can open some more Apple call centers in the United States to help off hours in India. We have lost a lot of call center jobs.

I thought most companies go to Latin America for call centers in US time zones. The cost of health insurance adds too much overhead in the US.

Well we have wonderful infrastructure here in the United States for call center operations. And with 16.3 MILLION unemployed right now. I am sure there are a lot of people would love a Apple Call center job about now. That is like everyone living in New York is unemployed in numbers.

Can someone get this image from the site as a wallpaper for Mac and iPhone/iPad?

Apple today announced that it plans to open its online store in India on Wednesday, September 23, providing customers located in India with a way to purchase iPhones, Macs, iPads, and more directly from Apple.

Apple's online store will also feature Apple Specialists able to help with ordering products and setting up new devices, with customers able to get help in English and Hindi.

With the store, Apple will introduce financing options and a trade-in program, along with EDU pricing for students. Starting in October, Apple will also host free online Today at Apple sessions led by local Creative Pros with a focus on photography and music.

Apple has long had a presence in India, which is an important market for the Cupertino company, but device sales have been done through third-party resellers because of restrictions imposed on foreign companies that require 30 percent of production to be done locally.

India in August 2019 relaxed the rules, providing a way for Apple to operate an online store in the country. Apple also intends to open up retail stores in the future, and there are already retail locations in the works.

The addressable market in India is several times that of several European countries. The fact the Apple is the last to arrive after every major brand shows Apple’s laziness and inability or unwillingness to navigate the local environment

or...or...maybe...perhaps Apple might actually know what they are doing? What? No that’s crazy. I am sure some random commenter knows more about global expansion than one of the largest companies in the world.

The bigger you are the slower you have to move. Apple is expanding in multiple places at once. The size of the Indian market means a significant about of resources needed to be brought to a head for Apple to make this move. Most likely Apple has been planning it for years. I am sure Apple would not have been so “lazy” if they knew you were available to show them how to do it.

I agree. People in our country have so many misconceptions about other nations. China was seen in similar ways less than a decade ago and today it's about to take over us as the world's largest and wealthiest consumer market. I get the sense that these comments are rooted more in racial and cultural bias than in factual knowledge.

I've been to these places. Yes, there are rural areas with a factory and run down huts. Of course there are poor people there. But you know what, drive down to rural Virginia, Kentucky or upstate Wisconsin. You'll be lucky if you find someone with a full set of teeth. Worse, we're supposed to be the wealthiest country on earth, so yeah...
Its always helpful to fight stereotypes with stereotypes. Very positive.
The poorest places in the US still have electricity. A key component of making Apple devices work.

Those are the physical stores, the OP asked for the online stores, which encompasses more countries such as Portugal (apple.com/pt/shop), Norway (apple.com/no/shop), Ireland (apple.com/ie/shop) and many others. I find it surprising though that they haven't any physical store in Ireland since it's basically where their European HQ are located.
Countries with online stores but not physical stores rely on the major big stores in other regions. Apple China serves many SE Asia countries, for example. I'm assuming Apple UK serves the Ireland online store.

Hard to say, same with Poland, Czechia, Hungary etc - at least one store in each capital city would be nice. Instead they opened a third one in Singapore, which is basically a very big (but very rich) city.
For those who have everything, more will be given, from those who have nothing, everything will be taken 🙃

India has really high taxes if Apple wants to operate in India directly but not manufacture things in India. India doesn't have the industry that can support iPhone production. The supply chain for parts and manufacturing engineering that Apple depends on is in greater China.
