It's funny how China is planning on dumping Cisco because its made in America for "national security"- what goes around comes around? ;-). I just find it funny and had a chuckle.
That is funny, but I'd do the same if I were them. The US government has shown with things like stuxnet and flame that they can be VERY aggressive and invasive with cyber intelligence and even outright sabotage. (I'm not faulting the goals, or implying that we have need to use them against China in the near future, just pointing out the capability.) I doubt our government has as much sway over Cisco as China has over their manufacturing plants, it's not out of the realm of possibility. I think it's important that critical infrastructure be designed and manufactured in-country, and China apparently feels the same. Nothing wrong with that.
