I mean, the Thunderbolt Display was just the next display they launched. The iPhone 5C can be made an argument for as the first "cheaper iPhone" but the iPad Air was just - at the time - the 5th generation iPad, not a new product category. The same goes for the iPad Pro, it was at the time just a successor to the iPad Air 2 with a new name. As was Apple TV HD, it's just the 4th generation Apple TV. Yet again the same for the iPhone X which was just the next iPhone, and the iPhone XS Max was just the next iPhone Plus with a new name. Yet again the same goes for Studio Display.

This article is based on quiet a few leaps.

I agree. Most of the recent 'innovations' have been upgrades from previous technology or ideas bought or copied from others, sometimes putting other developers out of business. I believe the fault lies with Apple leadership, particularly Tim Cook who seems to have focused on profits as Apple's primary goal, rather than the customer experience with innovation and creativity seemingly taking a back seat.

Some of most obvious examples of this stating that products are obsolete after 5 years and user need to by new ones; soldering in components that used to use sockets thus preventing user RAM and drive upgrades; focusing on subscriptions for some of its technology; abandoning users with Intel processors for software innovations; overpriced options on things like RAM and drives on new products; elimination of escalation for issues not solvable by tech support; removal of some desired features from the latest versions of macOS rather than additional programming as needed for more security of them; and approving the outrageous compensation for its CEO, who at $49 MILLION dollars a year is likely making more money in a month than the majority of people make in a lifetime.

Please no to this command centre thing. A pointless product no one needs when our phones and Siri should just do the same thing.
Just because you have no use for something doesn't mean others don't.

Now that I've got all my lights all Homekitted out, I realize guests have no decent way to control them. I would also love a dedicated visual control for playing media on various HomePods.

2025 will have a new product with the rumored Home device. 2026 could bring home security cameras. But don't think a completely new product can/will be launched every year. Only refinements of the existing products.

I like that they are concentrating on making what they already have better. I'm also glad to see that Apple and Google products are playing better together. I have mostly Apple products but I use Google home products and an ADT/Google home security system. It all integrates well with the Apple Products that I have (iPhone/iMac/Apple TV/iPad, etc.). I also really like that they are offering the nano—textured displays on their products now. I have it on on two of my Studio Displays and the iPad Pro 13 inch and it's wonderful!
I wouldn’t trust Google for my privacy

can we get multiple user spaces on iPhone? Would be nice to have completely separate spaces. thank you
No we won’t. Apple sees iPhone as a personal device, not meant to be shared. And to do that they should start using way bigger amount of RAM. They are not giving multiple users space on iPad, that could be easily shared.

2007: iPhone
2010: iPad
2014: Apple Watch
2023: Apple Vision Pro
Yes! This list contains all important new product lines!

MacRumors' list is rubbish, sorry.

Like for example the iPhone XS Max was not a new product line, it's still an iPhone in the line starting in 2007, and on top of that the X had already established the new design, and large iPhones had been around since the 6 Plus.

Or the Thunderbolt Display that just changed the port on the existing Cinema Display.

I don’t see the iPad M4 it as an iterative upgrade to be honest. Marketing was terrible but I do think that is a substantial upgrade.
But it's not a new product line. It may be amazing, but it is still just an iPad Pro with a faster processor and a better display.

Sorry I should have clarified: I meant *multiple personal spaces*, for a single user. Sometimes the feature is wrongly called "multiple users" but that is a misnomer. The function is meant for one person to have multiple separate spaces for improved privacy / security.

“with many buyers opting to extend the lifecycle of their devices”

Or…

“devices massively increasing in price so buyers are forced to upgrade less often?”
Not only that, but with phones specifically, most carriers did away with the "free" yearly upgrades and now charge an additional fee of at least $5 a month for the privilege. If you don't pay the additional fee, the standard period is 30-36 months. It's now worse than the 2 year contracts that were previously the standard.

"(Can't) innovate, my ass!"... goes on to reveal M4 Mac mini.
They should have called that baby Mac mini Grande.

Arbitrary list is arbitrary. I don’t see why the TB display is on the list despite being an evolution of the Cinema Display while Mac mini doesn’t make it. Or why Apple Silicon is there when the retina display isn’t.

If you’re basing this purely on product line name changes where are the mini iPhones? iPhone XR? Apple Watch SE? I don’t see why Xs max is on the list when the 6 Plus or 14 Plus aren’t. Heck, if Apple TV HD and iPhone SE can be on the list I’d say the Apple Pencil Pro should easily qualify.

Neither were iPhone X (replaced 7), XS Max (replaced 8 Plus), iPad Air (replaced iPad 4), ATV HD (replaced ATV 3), or TB Display (replaced Cinema Display) new product lines. This list is clearly arbitrary.

It does exactly the same as it predecessor, looks exactly the same as its predecessor (except for moving the camera), just has a brighter screen. Can tell it’s as the same level as an iPhone X which revamped how you interact with an iPhone completely by removing the home button, etc. and I wouldn’t call that a new product line either as it’s just a new iPhone, and the XS Max inclusion is a joke.

And the XS was a second generation X. What are you saying?
First: read the post. XS Max, not the XS.
Second: I’m saying what I said. Apple Pencil Pro is just the third Apple Pencil iteration.

I’m not justifying the list. I’m just pointing out pencil pro isn’t a “new” product.

And even more so, the iPad. This is actually a HUGE advantage to the Mac: you can viably share one device with two or more people, all with separate Apple IDs, and keep everyone's data perfectly isolated from other users.

People would revolt if they took multiple users from the Mac, but when they created iOS (and later, iPadOS), they got to start from scratch and make it so it's quite impractical to share iPads and iPhones while maintaining any privacy at all. Everyone has to have their own device. It's user-hostile, but probably a big driver of sales.
