Please tell me if this is normal for Apple Business Financing. I am completely disgusted and considering just going to Best Buy and buying a new laptop outright and screw the tax breaks. Should I put up with this or should I go elsewhere? I know this is a long rant but I honestly feel I was discriminated against. Should I file an executive complaint?

Wednesday, July 2 @ 12PM I went into the Apple Store at the Freehold Mall in Central New Jersey. I went there with the specific purpose of buying or leaseing a 2.3GHz 15" MacBook Pro. I spoke with a salesperson and with a business specialist and decided to lease. After over an hour and a half (why it would take this long to apply for a business lease I do not understand) the application process was complete and I was told it would take about an hour for an approval. Most of the time I was waiting I was just standing there in the middle of the store while the salesperson and business specialist were in the back room doing I don't know what. Maybe having lunch?

An hour later I went back to the store and was told that they had nothing yet but I could check this website myself:

    https://afsweb.apple.com/afs/application/status

When I put in my information including the Confirmation Number they gave me I got this error:

The information you entered does not match the application information. Please try again.

So I went back to the store and showed this to Michelle the business specialist. She went back into her office and came out with the application I had filled out. It was crumpled and had food on it like it was in the garbage. She told me that she must have misspelled my business name and that she would call and check up on this and call me back shortly. It is Friday morning and I have yet to hear back from her.

So later that afternoon at about 4:30 I called the financial services department at this number: 800-216-4384. They were able to find the application in their system and confirmed that the name was botched with misspellings and punctuation errors. But I was assured this was not an issue and I would have an answer by Thursday morning. I called Thursday morning and was told that I would have an answer by end of the business day. I called again at 4:30 EST and was put in a queue for two hours with a recorded message that my call would be answered in turn. Then after two hours of being on hold I was hung up on. All this time Michelle never gave me that promised call. So I called the store and they put me into her voice mail. I called back and asked to speak with the manager and they told me she is gone for the day.

I tried calling the financial services department this morning but they are closed for the holiday weekend.

Now I was fully prepared to drop over $3K at the Apple Store on Wednesday. I had the cash in my pocket but was interested in the business lease for tax purposes. I honestly believe I was discriminated against. I am a straight out hippy. Beard and long hair. I think I was even wearing my Birkenstocks. The Freehold Mall is an uppity yuppie mall and I think she thought I was some dirty person who would default just based on my appearance alone. Now I've been a loyal customer since high school in the late 80's. I have my MS in Information Systems for crap sake. I've never financed before but my accountant thought I should for tax reasons. I was fully prepared to drop up to $3.5K right there but I will never go back to the Freehold Apple Store again. How can they treat a loyal customer like this?

I really wanted (and needed) a new powerful laptop this weekend. So disappointed.

You do realize that the Apple employees have nothing at all to do with establishing credit. It's likely handled by a third party.

And one's credit scores are a major influence on whether one is granted credit or not.

I'm not looking to establish credit or a line of credit. As stated above I am looking at a business lease which is handled internally by the Business Specialist and their Financial Services Department in Texas. The Business Specialist has direct input.

No they don't. They have nothing to do with it.

A business lease is based on your EIN, time in business, D&B report, etc. At no time did they ask for my personal information other than my name and email. My credit has nothing to do with a business lease.

Everything you have posted here seems like you have a legitimate complaint. But here is not the place to be making that complaint. I understand your frustration. If this happened to me, I would be upset as well, but my thoughts would be to take this up the food chain.

I would take this post and either call corporate head office and file a complaint or email them a complaint. Nothing personal, but ranting here will get you nowhere. Maybe take away some of the frustration you are feeling, but that's all.

I would be surprised if your looks had anything to do with the misfortune you ran into. It sounds more like an incompetent employee, followed up by a group of unfortunate incidents created by their incompetence. Possibly?

Oh please. No worries. I'm sorry if I came across gruff. Just very disappointed.

Their website promissed a quick decision and the store said it would take an hour. It's obvious that the delay is due to the Business Specialist making errors in my application. Intentional or not.

Yea. I'm a little embarassed now for ranting.

No need to be embarrassed. We have all been there at some point. For some of us it is good, it helps to calm us down.
