I planned on using the Apple buy back program to dispose of my watch series 3 with LTE. Initially, they gave me a $225 estimated value. I received their response today with a $0 refund. The watch face has a tiny crack in the upper right hand corner. Hardly noticeable and in no way affects the watch’s performance. I expected some level of refund reduction but not $0. Anyone else have a similar experience?

A crack in the crystal is one the worst problems you can have. Water will destroy an OLED and "tiny" means nothing to water's ability to ingress. $225 would be for pristine condition and not going to happen. I would just have it returned and keep as a backup.

They can’t resell or refurbish it without replacing the crystal, which isn’t cost effective. So you’re out of luck.

That's exactly what I'd expect you to receive for any crack of any size/shape in the crystal.

Thanks. That’s what I’ll likely do. It’s a shame because the scratch is hardly noticeable.

A crack and a scratch are very different - mine had a scratch on the bezel and got the full $225
