Also, I often wonder if Apple worries about these drones crashing into cranes or the building? I can't imagine it feels good knowing there's these things flying around your unfinished 5 billion dollar project.

Most likely they have special permission, and must only be flown during low-peak times. Otherwise, you're right... risky!

buildings and cranes are a little thougher.....its gonna take a helicopter and not a drone.

It's going to turn out beautiful. I wish I work for a company like this. Fantastic job!

Makes me want to apply at Apple just to work in there.

No kidding..... even if only as a security guard, daily roaming this spectacular building and its gorgeous grounds.

Gonna sound like an ass, but you guys realize it's just a building right? People have been working in them for a while now.

can't wait to buy this building on the cheap, after Apple Yahoos in few years

They wouldn't be making such a massive investment if they were going to become irrelevant in "a few years".

That said, I share the sentiment. The pure neglect of some obvious oversights in OS X are startling. Not show-stoppers, so they choose to ignore. Breaks my heart.

Yeah, I doubt that a few kilogram drone would do any damage to a steel crane...

It matters much more than you think. Which view out your office window would you want day in and day out every day?

I switched jobs a couple of times mostly because of the poor office environment. A better work environment where I get a gym, windows with a view, nicer interior, all greatly improve my productivity. My current office is more like #2 - where I get a great view of trees and a river. I've been in offices where I've been in a basement where the only window is up 10 feet high towards a brick wall. Never wanted to be at work. Now I enjoy being at work. You're at work 1/2 your life. It's important that it's nice. I envy the people who are working at the Apple campus next year.

There are many buildings around the world, yet there are some that attract more visitors and coverage (in one form or another) than others.

And far more beautiful than the Apple campus, the one below for instance.

I took this one myself, handheld!

Visitors and coverage have nothing to do with the comments I quoted.

There are plenty of buildings and work environments between the binary spectrum you presented. Not sure what kind of answer you were expecting when you only present the choice of a crap hole v. a room with a view.

My point is an office building, no matter how grand, is simply a place to work. The shine of the new digs wears off quickly and it goes back to being the place where you go to work. I've worked in high rises (currently 2 days a week), tech incubators, business parks, and in my home office (currently 3 days a week). Excluding mi casa, each of those places has had varying levels of amenities. Although nice, they quickly became afterthoughts.

Unmistakably the Petronas Towers in Kuala Lumpur. I actually watched that movie Entrapment on Millennium Night, Dec 31/1999, the timing of which was an unreal experience.

On topic, the views from those towers' upper floors must be spectacular!

I could be mistaken, but I thought the plans called for walkways on the inner and outer parts of each floor. The walkways would have the only views.

The offices themselves would be inside between the walkways, with no views in (for secrecy) or out (for distraction).

I think I'm gonna hold out for the Apple Campus Air, it's supposed to be thinner.
Wait for the Campus Pro, it's rumored the trees will be doubled while keeping the thinness of the Campus Air.

If Apple continues calling what they're doing "innovation," then this will most certainly be true.

It's the 40th anniversary campus, to to be confused with the 20th anniversary macintosh. Look how far we've come in 20 years!

Gonna sound like an ass, but you guys realize it's just a building right? People have been working in them for a while now.

15 years ago I worked at IBM in San Jose at one of their Cottle Rd buildings (now gone). My office was down a long and narrow white hallway with bad fluorescent lighting and black trim around the door. There was no interior window facing the hallway. Inside the office was a floor to ceiling window that faced a cement courtyard between buildings with large utility pipes running along the building. The only color other than white or black that existed was a bit of green mold on some of the concrete. Not all buildings are equal and some are bad for your health.

At the end of the video, there's a shot of another small building under construction across the highway (opposite the R&D facility). Is that also one of Apple's, or is it just another building coincidentally going up at the same time?

The R&D buildings will be on both sides of Tantau Avenue. On the other side of Hwy 280, the Cupertino "Main Street" shopping area is under construction - don't think any of it was visible in this video. Apple already is renting a tallish building on the other side of the highway - a bit off to the east, but I think it has a driveway onto Tantau.

Looks great, can't wait to be able to spy into their large windows to see when the new MBP's are finally coming out.

It's most likely after hours. You don't see many workers in the videos.

Assuming the windows will let you see the inside from the outside.

Not to burst your bubble but Apple employees over 76,000 people. The main campus building can only hold 12,000. AKA you've only got a 1 in 7 chance of being placed in the spaceship. AKAAAA Not likely.

Seems like if you would apply for a position that is there it would be fairly likely, although not necessarily a given.

With much of the ring-shaped main building completed at Apple's second campus and auxiliary buildings taking shape, construction progress from month-to-month is ramping up. Drone pilot Duncan Sinfield has captured new aerial video of Apple Campus 2, allowing us to get a look at changes that have been made to the campus since April.

Significant work has been done on the 100,000 square foot fitness center, where Apple employees will be able to work out and stay healthy. A stone facade is now in place and the building looks to be nearing completion.

There are new cranes in the area, which are being used to finish up some of the main structure. Additional solar panels have been lifted into place on the roof of the building, more windows have gone up, and more window canopies have been installed. Parking structures are also set to be completed in the next few months, and some work has been done on the Tantau research buildings.

According to Sinfield, the sizable green fence surrounding the entire campus is being taken down and replaced with a shorter fabric-covered chain-link fence. A thick white foam is being laid on the top of ground structures like the tunnels and the auditorium, presumably kicking off the landscaping process. Trees and other greenery may be put into place soon, with Apple planning to cover the campus with 80 percent green space.

Apple plans to finish construction on Apple Campus 2 at the end of 2016, with employees set to begin occupying the buildings at the beginning of 2017.
