Apple Card Financing/Gift Cards/Apple Care question

I'm looking to buy a new 27" iMac, and am hoping to use the Apple Card 0%/12 month financing. I already have an Apple Card. I also have about $500 in Apple gift cards I'd like to use.

This seems to not be possible; has anyone successfully done this? Or have a creative work around?

(I am not interested in the barclaycard financing, I've already opened an account with them for a previous Mac purchase. I'd rather not deal with a new card through them, and I also would not get the 3% daily cash.)

I am going to get AppleCare. Is there any reason *not* to do that in a separate transaction, so I could use part of the gift cards for that? Is the coverage in any way different if you buy it shortly after purchasing the device, as opposed to in the original purchase transaction?

I am hoping to apply my gift cards, and then finance the rest of the price. It doesn't seem like you can use a gift card in any way unless you are paying in full.

I have called Apple support and they did not think it was possible, but they weren't particularly helpful so I thought I'd see if anyone has a creative solution.

For what it's worth - the AC+ purchase showed up seperately on my credit card (actually the BarclayCard since I applied for and received the 0% offer) even though I bought it at the same time as my MBP.

On the BarclayCard deal - CALL THEM! If you have an account you can call and see if you qualify for any offers. If I understood correctly, I was told that they will generally apply current offers to existing members, or at least give you something close but you have to call.

Regarding AppleCare, I was debating buying it for my 2018 Mini after the purchase. So I went to the site and was amazed that I couldn't use Apple Pay for it. No matter, I entered all the MasterCard info that is available in the wallet app, like I have done on other sites that don't take Apple Pay. After a long wait, it said the transaction was refused! Getting annoyed, I entered my American Express card info and had the same problem. At that point I said "screw it" and gave up.

Posted about this here, and somebody else said they had the exact same experience but tried again later and was able to make the purchase. Anyway, it's ridiculous that you can't use Apple Pay to purchase AppleCare. This was a few weeks ago, so maybe it's different now?

There is a special financing option through AppleCard, 0% interest for 12 months. But you can't apply a gift card to this in any way, it seems.

I ended up just financing it and I'll hold on to my gift cards. They're just burning a hole in my pocket!

I thought you were going to use a gift card to buy Applecare+. Maybe I misunderstood earlier on.

Apple doesn’t permit using the 12 month financing with the veterans’ discount; but the veterans’ discount can be combined with the Barclaycard financing. There are a bunch of incompatibilities and odd constraints.
