So I preordered 2 iPhone 11 Pro Maxes this morning at 5am PST in the Apple Store app on my iPhone and used Apple Pay with my Apple Card to pay for them for the sweet 3% back. It all appeared to go through with a September 20th ship date until I got a notification on my phone around 10am saying my payment did not process and I needed to update it. I went to Apple Store app, but it showed it was still processing and did not give me option to update payment. I then got an email from Apple saying same thing that payment did not process, but when I went to website store it said same thing that it was still processing.

So I called the Apple Card Goldman Sachs support line and the guy said this was happening and he did see it as declined on his end. He said it has been failing the first time, but if you put in order again it will go through. I told him I didn't want to cancel and reorder as I had September 20 ship date and did not want to reorder and lose that.

So then he connected me back to Apple Support and they said were still seeing it as Processing on their end. So instead to be safe they had me give them my manual Apple Card number that was generated in the Apple Wallet app to update the payment on their end to make sure it goes through. Since it was manually entered instead of using Apple Pay they were not able to confirm if I still get the 3% back as according to Apple if you use the physical card or manually enter the card number on a website you only get 1% back.

Anybody have similar issue?

Nope, I see 2 pending charges on my Apple Card and went through just fine.

Even if you enter the card manually and it's from Apple you still get 3%. I've done this with Apple when I had to make a split payment on something because ou can't use Apple Pay plus apple gift card at check out.

Mine went through fine, but only a small amount as I'm on the IUP. I have had a charge from apple declined on my Apple Card for some reason a few weeks ago.

I don't think purchases from Apple actually have to be made with Apple Pay. I may be wrong, but I think the physical card still gets 3% at the stores because it is the actual Apple purchase that triggers the 3%, unlike Apple Pay that triggers the 2%.

So payment failed a 2nd time even after manually giving Apple my Apple Card number. I then called Apple Card Goldman Sachs support again and he said first rep never cleared the large transaction to go through so he cleared it this time. I then ran payment yet a 3rd time and this time it went through and I am sure because the first 2 times I never saw the transaction in my Apple Wallet, but the 3rd time it finally showed up.

2nd rep said the transaction failed because I never made a purchase that size on this card before. Of course I didn’t as it is a brand new card.
[doublepost=1568427449][/doublepost]Oh and you are all also right. Apple Rep said no matter how you make payment (Apple Pay, physical card, or manually giving number) as long as the purchase was at or through Apple Store you get 3%. Nice to have confirmation on that.

My Apple Card is not showing any pending charges/pre-authorization from my 11 Pro Max preorders (store pickup).

Meh, if Goldman Apple Card some how effs this up, I am not going to upgrade iPhones this year.

From my understanding and from my experience you will not be charged and the charge will not show up on your card till Wednesday - Thursday next week. I always do a in-store pick up for my iUP device and was always charged 2 days before launch day. I have 2 pending charges show up on my Apple Card for the 2 iPhones that I pre-ordered but those are for the delivery method.

Weird because I didn't have anything show up in Recent Transactions section when I first bought. And then when I manually gave Apple my Apple Card number nothing showed up either. Finally when I called Goldman Sachs and they said they cleared the transaction to go through it showed up in the Recent Transactions section. It say:
Apple Store - $X,XXX.XX
Pending - Card Number Used - 3%

Goldman Sachs and they said they cleared the transaction to go through it showed up in the Recent Transactions section.

Not an Apple Card user, but, see this type of thing all the time with Apple Pay. And any credit card. It's posted, but might not clear until a few days from now, as @Shadowbech mentioned. Shop I go to a couple of times a week, purchases show up in Wallet, but might be a week until actually clears with CC issuer.

Similar happened with my last iPhone purchase. Showed up in Wallet on pre-order day, didn't actually hit/clear until phone was in "shipped" status.

No problems here. Paid full retail for my 11 Pro Max 512GB ($1449) and AppleCare+. Order is currently 'processing'.

Mine still shows as pending in the Wallet app. Ordered through Apple Store app at launch. Used the Apple Card.

I paid in full for one of my phones on the Apple Card. My order currently says that it is preparing to ship. My Apple Card does not show the purchase yet, but none of my credit cards ever do when I order the iPhone. It doesn't show until Wed or Thursday of launch week. Does that every year.

Had you purchased anything with the Apple Card yet, or was this the first purchase?
