I don’t get it. Goldman Sachs says they’re losing money and got to get out, but my podcasts & web pages have been filled with advertisements for the Apple Card and they keep pushing stuff like this.

Who’s paying, Apple? Who’s trying to grow the business here? Goldman so they can sell more accounts when they duck out?

Chewbacca is a wookiee. It doesn’t make sense.

And man those advertisements are misleading. “Unlimited 3% cash back!” Technically true, if you shop unlimitedly at Walgreens, Nike, and Exxon/Mobil (and a few others, and sometimes for promotional periods up to 5%, I get it).

Just say no fees, statements are calendar months, and the app isn’t horrible.

Was curious about that too I guess they're keeping promotions going for the next 2 years as transition takes place to Chase bank

You’re not getting $250 - you’re getting free Airpods, and it doesn’t sound like tax is being covered. That’s an important distinction.

There are numerous credit cards out there with promo offers which can get up to $250 which could be used on any purpose, not just Airpods.

Just remember for next year taxes, you most likely WILL get a 1099-misc for this free offering.. just keep an eye out for it and make sure to include it on your taxes.

This seems like an odd promo. Sure, great for anyone who takes it up, but is the card doing poorly? Are teh pods selling poorly? Or do they just make so much off these cards to justify it? It's not exactly the toaster the banks used to hand out or whatever. Cool!

think about the hit to your credit report, closing an account then opening another. Might affect it depending on your circumstances
As someone else pointed out, it wouldn't even work, which of course is obvious (time limits, etc). Not my best work 😀

Apple doesn't issue a 1099-MISC under $2,000.
And credit card incentives are usually considered rebates on your spending. I've never gotten anything even when getting $1000 sign up bonuses.

Now you will find you get em for big dollar promos on opening bank accounts.

Free AirPods is kinda lame compared to many of the sign up bonuses out there, you can literally make thousands of dollars by doing Amex, Chese, Citi, etc. deals.

It would be cool if Apple gave existing card holders some new benefits. How about an annual Apple One credit or something? Or like a $50 annual Apple Store credit? I think it’s a win-win, I imagine lots of people would use that towards a new iPhone.
Seriously, like ANYTHING. Day one cardholders didn’t get anything for signing up and rarely get good deals.

I’ve gotten them from Chase before for $400 in sign up bonus for opening accounts. Just because they don’t send something doesn’t mean it’s not owed. And since this is Chase now they are very likely to send them for this signup bonus

Just sayin’ DSTM
