Is it possible to get the protection plan after 12 months? I'm trying to sell my MacBook but the buyer wants to know if it's possible to get apple protection...

Nope. Has to be applied before the 365th day.

No. Apple only allows 1 year after purchase date for buying Apple Care.

Well, to each their own. But, you might be better off keeping it and then just getting a new one in two years.
