My work just provided me a new MacBook Pro. Well not exactly new but new to me. It is a MBP CD that came from another guy in our department that upgraded to a 17" MBP. It has Apple Care and I have a couple issues that I would like fixed but am not sure if Apple Care will cover them. The first is that it gets extremely hot, even under normal use. I know that the core duos get hot but I am not sure how hot is acceptable to Apple. The second issue is that the small piece of metal right above the button that opens the laptop seems warped and is bowing out very noticeably. Also when pushing in the button to open it there is a scraping sound and much more resistance than on my MBP C2D.

I know people have had issues with core duos running hot but has anyone had either of the other issues that I am having?

If it is getting too hot for you then I suggest running SMCfancontrol, I use that on my MBP CD and when I have the CPU fans set to 4000RPM it is not too loud and it keeps it a lot cooler.
