Post your CarPlay bugs.

Using BMW wireless CarPlay. Music app crashes frequently. It appears to crash when a notification comes in.

Notifications do not always flash on the CarPlay screen. I have Focus completely disabled.

Maps does not appear to know my location when searching for a local address or business.

I haven’t had those issues in my Audi (2018). I’ve got a software update scheduled that I hope doesn’t actually break anything.

Can’t organize CarPlay apps? I’ve tried, but it just resets to some random organization

I’ve had a few issues too. 2020 Jeep Cherokee UConnect wired CarPlay head unit.

- sometimes songs will stop at 15s and not proceed until skipped 1-2 times.

- sometimes maps loses my location and stops following me.

Usually a restart fixes them but I can’t quite figure out a pattern to when they happen.

Hopefully a B2 drop today. Usually every other Tuesday in the beginning.
With major releases (x.0), its usually 3 weeks between betas 1 and 2, then 2 weeks thereafter. Apple has been changing things up, so no guarantee here, but if the trend holds, it'll be next week.

Nah the usual is 14/15 days. iOS 14, 13, 12, 9, 8, 7, 3 and 4 had 14 days. iOS 11 had 16 days. Only 3 week beta 1 was iOS 10.

Most CarPlay issues can be attributed to the OEM car manufacturer or head unit. It's very rare that CarPlay has issues across the board. Only recent example I can remember is the Apple Music issue back in March or April that was rectified the following day.

Remember, it needs to also speak to the head unit or other car functions like the compass/GPS. The car manufacturers or head unit manufacturers may need to supply an update or programmed it wrong in the first place.

For majors upgrades/ features to the app I agree. But not for the things like ability to delete and rearrange apps.

This has been my experience as well and I have hopped the last 2-3 iOS beta's from the get go.

In my opinion, that is an extremely minor beta related issue and not as serious as what the OP has listed as issues with his BMW.

The app arranging bug seems to be system wide and beta related. The Apple Music issue that occurred before iOS 15 was released was a system wide issue and caused consistent crashing although there were workarounds so one could at east still play/manage music while using CarPlay. And it was fixed within 24 hours.

I have the same music issues like the OP. None so far with maps, but I don't use that regularely
Wired with Mazda CX-5

CarPlay primarily does screen & media "casting" to your headhunt. GPS functions come from your phone just as the music/media does. As for the issues with Apple Music, those are across the board. People are complaining about the "stopping at 15 seconds" issue across all variants of car manufacturer, device and wired/wireless. That issue is definitely on Apple to fix.

Add to that, since enabling lossless playback & spacial audio, the Music app has been using a TON of cellular data. (Check your stats if you haven't already in Settings - Cellular - Cellular Data). And this is occurring even if you primarily play music that is already on your phone.

Sorry...that's not true...CarPlay integrates with the car systems including the car GPS antenna. This has always been the case and is the cause of many location issues depending on the vehicle/settings. Have experienced it myself with rental cars where the antenna is defaulted to the point of manufacture/delivery and takes up to a minute for the phone GPS to synch/override.

I was in FL and my phone, not plugged into the car, worked just fine. If I started when plugged into the car, Tennessee would come up every time on CarPlay and it would take up to 5 minutes before it corrected to my current location.

My Mercedes wired CarPlay is doing something weird. If I am listening to an audiobook (Audible) and I get a call, I can hear the audiobook and the caller at the same time. It doesn't pause the audiobook like it should. If I pause the book and then answer the call it's fine.

Something similar happens if I try to use Siri while listening to a book. The book won't pause so Siri gets cancelled out without doing what I asked for. I also can't set the order of the icons in CarPlay.

I traded in my 2020 for a 2021 on Saturday and both vehicles did the same thing and only since iOS 15 (beta 1 or 2).

Looks like the app arrangement is fixed in beta 2. Haven’t had any music crashes, but it’s early.

Getting "unable to connect to [app name]" for some apps - specifically seems to be those with local library storage like Audible and Prism (music app). The apps play fine if started from the phone and show the now playing correctly, but I get "Loading.." momentarily and then "Unable to connect to Audible" if I try to access any library options. This is on a 2020 Nissan GT-R

Hard restart for the phone (in quick succesion, volume up, volume down and then hold power button until white Apple logo appears. Release and let restart)...mine did this as well when I got on the car the other day. Wouldn't find a POI I was entering. It was like I was connected to wifi and cell, but the phone just didn't want to "connect" when attached to CarPlay.

I am seeing issues with Spotify. The now playing screen frequently goes dark with just the play triangle in the middle. No artwork or anything. No ability to skip forward. The song plays though, but I have to go back to the queue or playlist to change tracks. It also frequently jumps to Apple music upon restart (probably by Apple design, lol).
