You ignore every point of every post I make. How about this, you do you and enjoy the hype. Give me a call when it’s too hot, too cold, the power is out, your battery is dead, or it’s too far, and you need a ride.
Combustion engines have more mechanical breakdowns and require more maintenance than electric engines.

I don't know why you're so hung up on the past and so blind to see EVs are the future.

Battery technology is advancing fast. 700 km (350 miles) per charge will be the norm in five years regardless of weather conditions.

😂 Do you have the formal announcement from Hyundai or just this rumor and the dumpster fire of circular reporting it created? Surely Hyundai would have publicly announced this by now? Oh wait here’s something a little more current for you.

For some reason “journalists“ are all suddenly giddy to worship at the EV altar, completely abandoning critical thinking. Stop and ask yourself why? There’s somewhere in the neighborhood of 1.2 billion ICE vehicles out there. They aren’t disappearing anytime soon no matter how bad ”journalists” and governments want them to.

For the last time, I enjoy EV’s. They are fun toys. And they make some sense for people that don’t have weather, distance, or travel time constraints. Without artificial market manipulation (governmental laws) THEY WILL NEVER REPLACE ICE’s. Even with complete government enforcement (Europe) it is going to take decades before this becomes a reality. Even then, every ranking official there will publicly have an EV, but will commute in an ICE when the situation calls for it.

But don’t worry, even though EV’s will never dominate, the Chinese will keep those children in the cobalt and lithium mines happily employed for years to come.
Every iPhone contains cobalt, not just EVs. If the suggestion is that those who drive an EV have blood on their hands, the same could be said for anyone who has ever owned an iPhone.

Electrification is a more logical choice for the majority of countries worldwide, especially those that do not produce oil. The entire infrastructure established to support ICEs, including excavation, transportation, and distribution, is not only costly but also has its own limitations. And are you so naive as to think there is no government intervention in creating the car culture in the U.S.? 😂

There might not be enough cobalt in the world for the global green transition, but there is certainly enough to ensure to the domination of EVs over ICEs within a generation or two.

Nobody of note in the tech industry saw the rise of ChatGPT happening even a year ago. I doubt a "systems developer" knows much about the trajectory of autonomous driving.

I say 10. You say 20. We'll see who's right.
ChatGPT is an ad-less Google search that gets a lot of stuff wrong. Pull back the veneer and understand what it’s doing and the magic isn’t as great as you think. A lot like EV’s. 😄

I’m going to trust the guy’s timeline who’s literally on the team developing the system over your opinion. These systems can’t handle Pittsburgh, Boston, NYC on a sunny day let alone rain and snow.

Breakdowns happen. Even with the limited range EV’s breakdown. Yes engines require service. Most modern engines are on about a 10k interval, and are still going strong after 200k. That battery pack, not so good.

😂 Big difference in the amount of rare earth materials needed for an EV compared to an iPhone. And people aren’t buying iPhones to “save the planet.” There are literally billions of ICE vehicles out there. They aren’t going anywhere but down the road.

I’ve invested pretty heavily in a lithium group. So please continue to purchase EV’s My kid’s inheritance thanks you. 👍

It already exists, it is called CarPlay
Not if it’s a GM. 😉
Haha what new technologies are in ICE cars? Which car manufacture are putting more resources into ICE? Look at their roadmaps for next few years. It’s all EVs, EVs, and more EVs. No one is spending any meaningful money for ICE cars. The difference this time is there’s an expiration date attached to your beloved ICE cars. So enjoy them while you can, they are on borrowed time before going extinct.
Meant to ask you the other day, is this one of the technical advancements you are talking about? If so DEFINITELY count me out. 😂

😂 It's just funny how people who haven't the slightest understanding of statistics and LLM are on here pretending to be know-it-alls. Your attitude towards ChatGPT explains a lot about your similar view toward EVs. I think right now you're just saying whatever to protect your fragile ego. "Ad-less Google search" 😂 Oh, thank you for making my day.

And you claim to know a "systems developer" in autonomous driving? Did you tell him/her that you think ChatGPT is "ad-less Google search"? 😂 He/she agrees with you? Either this person isn't a "systems developer" at all or he or she is fictional.

Onto EVs, you made even more amateur errors here:
  • I already said most people buying EVs don't care about sustainability.
  • Cobalt isn't a rare earth element so you obviously don't know WTF you're talking about trying to rebut my comment about cobalt.
  • Saying there are billions of ICEs out there so they can't ever be replaced is a logical fallacy.
  • Nobody in EVs takes Jeep seriously. And use that big brain of yours to think the reason Tavares thinks/hopes there won't be enough lithium.
That last little tidbit about your investing in lithium just goes to proves my earlier point about your fragile ego. ;) Who gives a f*k about where you invest your money and what you're planning to do with it? 😂

😂 Masterfully done. 👏 I’m amazed at how much you’ve been able to type in this thread without ever providing a valid counterpoint.

Two interesting reads:

If Cupertino doesn’t come up with an Apple car…

Someone else should. The reportedly soon to arrive Apple car better be not some oversized Bang & Olufsen styled SUV or MPV. Steve Jobs used to say: “design is not just what it looks like, design is how it works”.

Picture this: It’s 2014, and rumours are swirling...
around the tech industry that Apple is working on a secret car project. The project was supposed to be Apple’s grand entrance into the automotive industry, a revolutionary new car that would take the world by storm.
