Apple has officially announced the opening of its Apple Central World store on Friday with a press release that includes several new images of the interior of the building.

Apple Central World is nestled in the heart of Ratchaprasong, Bangkok's iconic intersection, and it joins Apple's existing store in Thailand, Apple Iconsiam, which opened in November 2018.

Apple Central World’s distinctive architecture is brought to life with the first-ever all-glass design, housed under a cantilevered Tree Canopy roof. Once inside, customers can travel between two levels via a spiral staircase that wraps around a timber core, or riding a unique cylindrical elevator clad in mirror-polished stainless steel. Guests can enter from the ground or upper level, which provides a direct connection to the Skytrain and the city’s largest shopping center. The outdoor plaza offers a place for the community to gather, with benches and large Terminalia trees surrounding the space.

Apple Central World opens Friday, July 31 at 10 a.m. ICT in Bangkok, and more than 130 new team members speaking 17 languages will be in attendance to welcome customers.

Apple says the new store will open with the same health and safety measures seen across all Apple Store locations for both employees and visitors, including a mask requirement, temperature checks, and social distancing.

Apple notes that visits to Apple Central World on Friday will be by appointment only. Customers can visit apple.com/th/centralworld to choose from available times, and each non-transferable reservation admits one person.

Wow, super impressive in the night. Looks like an atomic, wooden mushroom, a symbol for the last remaining trees and dying forests. So beautiful and at the same time raising awareness that the end is near!

Totally awesome. But I'm a bit sad they only concentrate on these incredible "flagship" locations and leave many countries (and entire regions) totally without official presence. Could they perhaps open some stores a bit more down to earth, but in locations that don't have ANY Apple stores?

nice looking store
had some great food in thailand working there years ago
some of the food was so spicy yet so tasty i had to keep eating it
nice restaurant out side the city on a nice deck at night

Just when you thought their stores couldn’t get more unique. Kind of makes me feel bad that so many Apple Stores were damaged from riots/protests. They really are beautifully designed and thought out.

They're not all beautiful by the way. A lot of them are just regular storefront. But this one is truly amazing.

It's great architecture, I though like the European flag stores located in old building more.

That curved wood, I already said it yesterday, must cost a fortune, from a certain hight it curves, each wooden plank is different than the one below or above, have different angles as well.
Bet it's more expensive per square meter than the curved glas, including manufacturing and installing.

Wow, that curved wood must have cost a fortune, probably even more than the curved glass.
The glass is one piece, the curved wood is much more complicated, it changes in curves and angles the more you go up.

I'm no structural engineer so I have to ask, how is that second floor supported?? Just by those shiny bars? I mean there's probably support within that center wood spiral also. But boy, that's something.

Here's a pic of Central World, February 2018. I'm assuming Apple built right on top of this circle space. I thought it was neat how Apple advertised the iPhone X here, and other buildings in Bangkok.

I'm also a big fan of those stores, here is a photo of the Barcelona store I took last year.

Funny how the world has changed so much. Looking at this picture (great architecture btw), my immediate thought was how differently we now view social interactions in social spaces. It's almost a snapshot of the 'good ole days.' :p

Nice architecture, but:
1. I'm paying for it via high prices on Apple products (a sign someone could eat Apple's lunch), and
2. It reminds me of a nuclear mushroom cloud! </cold_war_kid>
