I just wanted to quote this, it's so silly it doesn't need a response.

By this time next year, the most expensive Android you can get will be $300 and will run an obsolete version of Android on obsolete hardware.

I think Cook is being optimistic. I'm on the fence about upgrading because I really don't want that big a phone. I like the current iPhone 5 size, yet I also want the NFC capabilities of the 6. I'll have to wait to actually hold one and see what I think.

I actually went the other way. I've been an iPhone user for years but this IP6 announcement has me looking at Android.

Hmm, not sure about that. The reaction seems to be tepid amongst the Apple fans I know. It's not enough to get me to upgrade my 4S either and even the regular "6" is just too big for me. Androids have been tempting but I feel stuck to iOS now.

Going by the hands on reviews, it doesn't feel that big in hand, and it's super light too, wanting one falls down personal preference, i don't mind owning the iPhone 6 plus, i always wanted a phone that big coming from Apple.

Apple was beating then just fine at 4", with revenue and profits that exceed every Android vendor on Earth put together. Now, Apple is ready to annihilate the high end of the Android market. By this time next year, the most expensive Android you can get will be $300 and will run an obsolete version of Android on obsolete hardware. There just aren't going to be enough die-hard fandroids to keep the $500 flagship Android phones alive. Most people bought Android for size or price, now it will just be the latter.

Samsung will just roll over and play dead? Not a chance. As long as your bringing up obsolete hardware isn't it sort of funny that the iPhone 6 is still stuck at 1 GB of RAM? That's just one example. We'll see how this all turns out.

The iPhone 6 will sell very well, but I expect the competition isn't going to stop. At least you should hope it doesn't because without strong products from Samsung, LG, HTC, Moto, etc. Apple would have little motivation to keep improving their product.

Let me simplify this for everyone.....

Tim is correct.

Steve picked him for a reason......because he is a winner.
Simple.

It sure will. I'll be upgrading for the larger display. I'm thinking 5.5" for myself.

I don't see much in there to tempt Android users across. They've had many of these features and bigger screens for a while. I'll probably upgrade my 5s but I'm already in the Apple eco system.

Apple knows what they are doing. The iPhone 6 only has 1 GB because it only really needs that amount. iOS 8 will be even more optimized and the fastest phone on the planet with the A8 chip.

The only people who look at specs closely are Android fanboys. I love specs - on a computer - but I don't care about them on a phone or tablet as long as said phone/tablet can run all my apps without lagging.

I'm so proud of Apple for creating these amazing products. Apple exceeded expectations in every possible way with their announcements today. Tim Cook has silenced all his doubters.

Tim's probably right about this. Everyone at work knows I'm the Apple Fan Boi and lots of folks were asking about when the iPhone will be available.

One colleague asked me if I was standing in line and if so would i get her one. I told her its not like buying a loaf of bread.

lol who is he expecting to upgrade? i have an iPhone 5 and i sure as hell am not upgrading

I love how positive they are. This is handsdown one of the lamest updates to the phone but don't get me wrong. I need a new phone and will be sticking with apple. This phone just doesn't really offer anything that amazing.

No, Tim Cook. I won't be upgrading to a huge phone with garish antenna lines.

So you're to just complain and not going to upgrade over something cosmetic which you will likely put a case over?

My 2 cents. I love my mini and have ATT unlimited data. I live with the mini and often take it with me outside the house. My iPhone also has unlimited data that I seldom use just because the size is not right (to me) for consuming a lot of data. I'm thinking the plus model is for me. It will allow me to leave the pad at home and have the larger 6+ to carry around.

Competition isnt going to stop, correct, but they will also not stop churning out crap to see what sticks.

Have you seen the new Galaxy phone with a metal body? Completely ripped off the chrome edges from the iPhone. Its not the first time but this time its metal which is more comparable.

RAM argument is getting old. If you do so much on your phone where RAM becomes a problem then you arent using the right device. Having 50 tabs open in your browser and numerous other things....
