Guys scan the picture with the crowd for an iPhone 6! It'll be easier to find if you concentrate and look for a phone with ugly antenna bars.

Uh... at every keynote they usually tend to show some videos and pics of different Apple related things in the first 20 mins or so. I could totally see them showing video about the Ice Bucket Challenge and then announce a pledge to donate $_____ to ALS.
Maybe but that's more apple centered. I'm just not feeling it.

I'm sure that most couldn't, there is a difference between knowing that ALS exists and knowing what it is and how it affects people. I find this whole thing to be ineffective. I've seen people doing the ice bucket challenge online since May and the fact that they are promoting that they've raised four million dollars because of this is a victory? I'm glad that they've raised anything but just because somebody tags me on facebook does not mean that I'm donating $100 to ALS. I've done a few charity races/runs this year and I've raised a few thousand for other diseases and nobody has ever donated that much individually to my fundraising, most people stick between the $25-50 range.

It started July 29, so it's doubtful you've seen it for two months prior to its start...

You call this a challenge? Is this some sort of challenge for upper class white boys who never work anything involving manual labor or security, or the army, or ever even worked out, or went to the boy scouts, etc?

May need to do the 'move something that weighs 10 lbs or more for 10 minutes' challenge next. I'm sure everybody will fail. I mean these types probably just had manicures and what not.:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

The point is to raise awareness and it is working. Nobody cares "how difficult" the challenge is. As a matter of fact, it's meant to be easy so that anyone can participate... unless you're a Mogwai or Gremlin.

People have been doing it way longer than 15 days. Honestly, I really don't care if people do it or not, it's not hurting anybody, but I respectfully disagree that it has raised awareness about ALS. I'd wager that 9/10 people who participated can't articulate what ALS is, what causes it, or what treatments are available.

Good to see cook involved in these sort of things. For a kinda boring guy he does make a a good effort.

Do I also get world wide attention if i dump a bucket of ice over my head? Jeez, this thing is silly!

First world problems *facepalm*

*thinking about the thousands of women, childrens and men that have to die unnecessarely and nobody gives a damn and no celebrity performs some crazy stunt for them*

Good night!

What a load of *****. Why aren't you in Afica handing out food packets, battling Ebola or in peace talks between Israel and Gaza? Oh wait.. This should apply only to others.. I get it.

Well chosen username...Very apt.

Honourable cause to an incurable disease. It's just a small step towards progress; the awareness!

Wait a minute. Bi weekly beer bash? WHAT! How do I get my company to start this tradition, LOL!

What??????

He has a valid point. You go to a concert, comedy show, or even the damn zoo. Every person is there staring through smart phone or tablet. Not enjoying the fact that they are there to see something.

It's sad and pathetic really. People don't live for the now anymore.

I find the picture of Tim Cook rather sad. So many of the assembled Apple employees are taking exactly the same picture/video of him with their iPhones. Nobody actually just stands there and experiences the event.

Funny isn't it. Having a visual memento of the event that can be shared is more important than actually experiencing it.

On the plus side, it's a great argument for wearables with a camera! "Live your life, let iGlasses worry about the holiday snaps"

just donate money, pouring cold water/ice on yourself is ****ing stupid!

Your one of those people that just doesn't get it aren't you? Basically the main reason ANY celebrity gets involved with charity's or things like this is to raise awareness. People often just forget about all these diseases that we humans can get.
So when a celebrity puts them name on it then people take note and donate money. These celebrity's and their companies do a lot of work for charity's and donate lots of money, far more then the $100 in this challenge, but for the charity's and organisations having the awareness of their work raised is simply priceless.

The ALS foundation has already reported it has had over 4 million in donations where as last year at the same time they had just over 1 million, the difference is this challenge and raised awareness as stated by the foundation.

For those of you here that 'don't get it' and accuse this of doing nothing, why don't you go and do some volunteer work for the ALS foundation and see what difference it has made yourselves, then come back here and tell us it did nothing....

Or read the FACTS from the ALS organisation:

Or have you heard of Stephen Hawkins? What disease does he have?

They're documenting the moment, just like they did in the past with 8mm film and 35mm cameras.
