Apple CEO Tim Cook recently told CNBC's Steve Kovach that a more personalized Siri remains on track to launch at some point next year, with the new set of features expected to debut on the iPhone as part of iOS 26.4 in March.

Cook told Reuters that Apple is "making good progress" on the revamped Siri, which is the same thing that he said last quarter. He shared this comment ahead of Apple reporting record earnings results for the third quarter of 2025 today.

Apple first announced the personalized Siri features during its WWDC 2024 keynote, but in March it announced that they were delayed. The new capabilities will include better understanding of a user's personal context, on-screen awareness, and deeper per-app controls. For example, Apple showed an iPhone user asking Siri about their mother's flight and lunch reservation plans based on info from the Mail and Messages apps.

Apple is facing multiple class action lawsuits over the delayed features.

We've been using Siri almost the exact same [fairly limited] way for 15 years. That's a pretty long time to develop some fairly ingrained behaviors/patterns. I'm super curious to see what the transition is like from our well-established Siri usage pattens into whatever a more personalized Siri will yield. I admit to being pretty skeptical that an updated Siri will redefine how I interface with my tech. I welcome an opportunity to be surprised.

They could do that and still hit the 2026 timeline. Wouldn’t surprise me really.
only caveat to that is all the home stuff they're supposed to be releasing will be delayed wayyyyy past when it was supposed to come out, probably have dated processors too... but hey they did release the Vision Pro on m2 for some reason....

Yep, and for me that goes for Ai tools on the market today. If I need those tools or services I know where to go and what to expect. None of them are any good at the moment at a level required. They kinda work for some things, but as a whole none are very good.

Right, right – I remember that from WWDC 2024.

… Is there a second example yet?

I use Siri quite often.

... to set timers. That's pretty much the only thing I can consistenly count on it doing right. Anything else typically ends up with me wanting to throw my phone across the room.
Th ability to interact with your phone while driving is helpful, has its place.
