Last weekend found an old document (early 2000s) from some stock trading entity that it was holding a single share of Apple stock in my name which had been purchased at $21/share. Apparently I never followed up to claim it. What would one share from 2000 be worth now? Any chance I could claim it now?

Well, AAPL split 2-for-1 in 2000 and 2005, and 7-for-1 in 2014, so you should have 28 shares today. At today's valuation of ~$227/share those shares are worth around $6350.

Long on AAPL since 2007, after all the splits I've got about 10000 shares today. This last month has been phenomenal.

Absolutely. In California, it doesn’t take very much income to put someone into the top tax brackets. For a single person, that’s 37% federal + 13.8% state + 3.8% ObamaCare Net Investment Income Tax. Highway robbery.
Apparently you missed the part where he gets $57,800,000 to keep. Just this year. On top of his regular salary. So he gets as a "Bonus", after his "Highway Robbery" taxes, as much as 600 of his average employees earn in a full year.

Does he deserve it? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Maybe. But I don't feel sorry for his taxes.
