This is about technology and government. It's not about Trump.
LOL everything in this admin is about Trump, that is rule one. Regardless, the meeting sounds like it's going to be about making deals. It also seems a little strange, or perhaps premature is a better word, since in fact there's not actually a chief technology officer in place yet. I mean the Bloomberg piece says this - the red bolding is mine
The American Technology Council meeting will include a gathering of top executives followed by smaller sessions on particular topics, including those involving tech sales to government agencies, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing internal matters. The council is made up of government officials, such as the U.S. chief technology officer, and is led by Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior adviser.
So far, Trump appears only to have chosen a deputy chief tech officer, one Michael Kratsios, a finance guy, former aide to Peter Thiel. Trump has seemed wary of making use of or getting involved with the scientists working under the umbrella of Office of Science and Technology Policy, plus I guess some of them have bailed over climate change and proposed budgets to research.
Well maybe this meeting will change things up and we'll find out how Trump's American Technology Council may relate to the OSTP and its eventual management. Knowing Trump though it sounds to me more oriented to let's find out what kinda deals people want to make (in the name of draining the swamp, of course).
