I disagree, CBS has How I met your mother, Two and a half men, Survivor, CSI, The good wife, The Big Bang theory... NBC has House, Law & Order, Will and Grace, and I could still name more shows that are not necessarily built up on where Apple seems to be going.
Networks work very closely with creatives .... that is a fact.

If you were to look back at my previous comments on Apple TV+ you'll see I wasn't a fan, not a hater just not convinced I'd renew when my free year was up.
Well after "The Morning Show", "For All Mankind" and now "Ted Lasso" I'm now off the opinion that it is well worth the money.
In typical Apple fashion it is a streaming service that is Quality not Quantity. There's only so much TV you can watch in a day/week/month.
The only thing NetFlix has that beats Apple TV+ is "The Queen's Gambit".
On top of this it becomes more attractive when bundled with iCloud storage, Game Store and Apple Music. That should really worry rivals like Netflix. That may even trigger anti-competitive accusations/investigations.

I tried watching season 1 and couldn't get into it. The trailer for season 2 looks much more appealing. Would I need to sit through S1 to understand S2? I'm a pretty big sci-fi/space show fan so it shouldn't take much to hook me. Maybe I need to try S1 again?
Yes you would, especially what happens to a few characters and the fallout from it on everyone else.

I have to say that I've been enjoying some of the content on TV+. Ted Lasso is pretty good and Greyhound is amazing. I have to take back a lot of my initial thoughts on TV+. Still needs some more content but I've genuinely enjoyed what I've seen so far

Have you ever seen the discussions had by management, when they decide which shows to run and which ones are told to go find somewhere else? I have. Trust me, they always have an agenda to push.

They need to find *some* reason to say no to 90% of the scripts that cross their desk, and since the shows haven't actually been produced yet the quality of the show isn't part of the decision. They don't know how good the show will be when they have to make a thumbs up/down decision. Pretty much the only thing they have to work with is "does this fit with the kind of stuff we want to put on?"

Personally, I've really enjoyed almost everything I've seen on Apple TV+ and my only complaint is I wish there was more of it. Apple is doing a great job.

Weird quoting myself, I know...
Just saw the new Spotify post here on MR.
To compete with Apple's bundled services perhaps we might see a Spotify/Netflix merger sometime in the future?

This is for all those who say Apple does not interfere with the shows' content. They definitely do, and you can see that in the social undertones they have.

I do wish Apple TV+ succeeds, I hope they find that one show people would rave or die to watch, and hopefully they give creators the liberty to produce something appealing without measures or political correctness.

Not interfere? They won't allow them show non-Apple products in Ted Lasso. They are rubbing the Apple brand in your face and its cheesy. Its very obvious there is social/political agenda being pushed, but to be fair to Apple so is other media created by other producers

The shows seem very solid 7/10. Its not bad but not great. A filler if you may. For example Ted Lasso and Mythic Quest, you can easily find much better sitcoms out there over these. I have not seen the serious ones like Morning Show, but the they seem to be very "corporate-y", its like cut and shaped according to specific Apple standards that kind of kills the taste out of it. Kind of like canned food.

Apple does not seem to have HBO's Game of Thrones, AMC's Breaking Bad, or Netflix Narcos. They don't have "IT"...not yet.

Whoever pays for the production usually reserves some control. This is nothing new and probably is applicable to almost every commercial production.

Apple’s interests however my be different than other traditional studios.

Apple is putting out some good content though. This show is excellent - so was Tehran.

Why would Apple use competitors products in its productions? Product placement has always been a big part of Hollywood productions.

Maybe but to be fair the so called big ticket shows are far in between for any Network. Tehran was a solid production for any network. So is For All Mankind. Apple may never get an HBO caliber show in terms of viewer interest but I can see it creating Downton Abbey worthy shows. That is probably more it’s cup of tea anyway.

Felt bad for Gordo.
Theoretically, “the they’ll never let him fly again” shouldn’t have happened because the team covered up his freak out. So I don’t know why he’s on the Kiwanis lecture circuit unless he couldn’t lose his freak out and management noticed. Which seems plausible. Given the situation, and without a good plot twist (maybe moon war?) Gordo’s character doesn’t have legs. I hope his arc ends with him being a hero and not a drunken goat.

Its cheesy when you over do it. Just because the others do it, does not mean its right. It was so cringe-y to see "Bing Search" in the Spiderman movie. I think product placement takes the mood out of the show and out of this fictional world.

I mean can you imagine watching if a sitcom show like Friends was produced by Pepsi, and all the drinks they have on the show is "Pepsi". Something is abnormal here. I think it should be up to the writer/director to put in what they see most fit.

If Apple will never bring in the big shows no one will subscribe to them. People will only pay for the shows they think are superior.
