That can be true but I think they prepare for more flexible approach for M5 Pro/Max. You will have bigger freedom for choosing CPU/GPU mix. Mac mini with beefed up GPU? Apple's first gaming machine? 😀

I don't understand the concerns about pre-configured, immediately available models disappearing... it's clear those still exist if you take a look at the purchase flows, they're just presented differently. Again, this looks like a design change rather than a change to how Macs are made/supplied.

This change to the store was long overdue. The old way was ridiculous in that you had several starting configurations but some could be customized to match more expensive other starters anyway.
