ya not on my 5s though. I use a usb extension cable and that may be it. may make the came over 10'

The extension cable is probably what's doing it. Though if it happens withut the extension cable, you should get that replaced.

yes with the 6+ sucking more juice it could very well be (using a iPad power block). 10' usb cables are about as long as you want to go. I put a apple one on and it was fine.

Just got it with the apple cable must be the extension I better buy a 20.00 apple one

Are you talking about the actual chargers, or the cables?

There's a big difference.

The Cables and the rubber that covers them. they get stretched and rip easlily. although i guess it does depend on how well you treat them..

I have an iPod cable that's about 8 years old still going strong!

My lightning cable lasted 12 months!

Ok, well the reason I asked is that you've titled the thread Apple "Chargers" and seeing as you actually mean cables, perhaps you should change it.

Is it just me, or have the quality of apples chargers really dropped over the last few years? Like The cords that came with older iPods seemed indestructible, but the newer ones get all stretched out and rip easily. Its just like, WTF apple?

Absolute true but I noticed this like 5 hrs ago. The old ipod 30 pin connector had reinforced cords where the connector is. But they got rid of the reinforcement in one of the upgrade cycles and now the connectors don't last. I still have those original 30 pin connectors around the house. Still works.

I brought these Amazon 6 ft lightning connectors and they're awesome! Seems more sturdy than apple and I use that primarily in my bed to charge.

Apple cables aren't durable. Especially where the ends are small so you sometimes end up pulling from the cable itself.

Which is why if you want one, get it from an Apple retail store because at least you have have them replaced (assuming they having been really abused).

This is the stretching im talking about

How old are the cables you are complaining about? Do you expect cables to last forever? Especially when they are used on a device like a iphone that is charged once a day or once every other day?

The cable pictured is my girlfriends and she got it with her 4S (brand new might I add) in April, so 8 months. I have the cable that came with my iPod from 2012 and its not as bad as hers.

I just don't understand this. What are you people doing with your cables? You know they're not meant for spelunking, right?

I've never had a problem with any Apple charger or cable I've had through many iPods, iPhones, and iPads. I recently had a friend replace his 5S lightning cable, because it was frayed and discolored. He's had the thing 8 months. I was like, wtf are you doing to it?! I have a 30-pin from my old 3rd gen iPod that still looks fine and works perfectly. Granted, I no longer use any of the devices it charges. (Nice and long, too. Damn the short cables!)

30 pins were fine. Lightning cables not so much.

I too am an Amazon basics cable convert. Very durable and reasonably priced. Only drawback is that they are a bit thicker on the end and some cases won't let you squeeze them in.

Interesting, because I have several and none of them do that to ntiehr my iPhone 6+ nor the iPad Air or Air 2.

i've noticed that if i use anything but an apple cable, even if it's "Apple Certified" and especially if it's a direct amazon cable, that my phone battery doesn't seem to last as long...

I have seen a problem with lightning cables as well. It's hard to draw conclusions since I'm only one of five iDevice users in the house, but pretty much every lightning cable is trashed where the 30 pin cables have mostly held up.

I have an Amazon Basics cable for my iPad that has had the sleeve come out from the connector, so they aren't perfect either.

The cables are less durable because Apple made them PVC-free.
That's the trade-off for being green.
The other companies don't add all those chemicals because they hate the planet -- they do it because it makes for a more durable cable.
Especially against UV damage.
Leave a new Apple cable in the sun for a few months and it will start to degrade without even touching it.
And I don't think the people claiming that Apple will replace the cables have tried that recently.
Unless you have an iDevice that is still under warranty, they will not replace the cable. They might do it to be nice but replacing it is no longer Apple policy.
