They will just release Xcode for Windows. Or partner with some Open Source or even Microsoft to get the developer tools ported to Windows or Linux.
I doubt that very much. People want nice looking computers. You can't get that on Windows or droid anything. It's all imitation.

If that were the case then Apple would be the #1 computer manufacturer. They are not.
My Spectre X360 is every bit as nice looking as a MacBook. The Surface Studio is gorgeous. HP's Omens are nicely designed towers. Heck, my LED, clear windowed PC is nice looking in an industrial sort of way too.
There are nice looking Androids as well.

If Apple were to release a hybrid device similar to Microsoft Surface, I would rush to buy it on the release day, and I’m sure there will be millions of people doing the same as long as the device can be used with external monitors and a pointing device and run current macOS applications (even if in an emulation mode).

I would pay $1500 for such a device without much hesitation. I do a have a lot of hesitation paying current prices for Apple laptops that have only one port type and prefer older design, such as mid-2015 MacBook Pros. The concept of just a few USB-C only ports would only make sense to me in a hybrid-tablet form factor.

I would too. I do love the form factor and capabilities of the 2-in-1 I got - it's a great device and if Apple would build something similar I'd be back in a heartbeat. But that would take courage, something they are lacking as of late.

Nice looking computers? You make it sound like there staring at a piece of artwork, when in reality, they want the most functional piece of equipment that will best serve their needs. Fact is Aesthetics wears off, it comes down to the user experience.

X360 is a better designed device than most PCs, and in general HP has a cleaner design focus, but they are still all imitations of Apple designs, riffing on the pseudo luxury device category with shiny features. Apple's problem for widespread appeal is stupid high pricing and software integration/cross compatibility so that people can move seamlessly from Windows, Android and Mac all in the same day, every day. People use a variety of devices in their everyday lives, and Apple began focusing hard on these factors in the late 2000s but has since dropped the ball. Apple has forgotten to look outside its spaceship compound to everyday users and what they do with their devices.

I think the original Mini is better looking than the current one.
So it's 1/2 inch taller, big freaking deal. At least it looked like some thought went into the design, especially the top of it, plus it had room to actually put in an actual graphics card

Mine's crawling nowadays... good for storing media but not too much beyond that.
Mine with 8GB RAM and an SSD is so good, I was completely surprised by this announcement.

Oh but they will.
Considering that the "current" (ahem) one is literally no better, yeah, and they should. The i7 version is faster than most of the current Macs.

According to Apple if your computer is over 5 years old, It's really sad, it really is.

They made me a little angry with that comment. How "green" is it to replace a working older computer just because it's old, especially when it's already one that uses little power. For that matter, computers still use about the same amount of power by class anyway, so, too old should be when nothing is available to plug into it any more and it dies, as long as it's doing the desired job.

I think what they meant is that if you haven't bought a new computer from them in six years, they're really sad they haven't extracted any cash out of you in that long.

I think it would have been fair to move this to the unsupported list after a new decent mini had been made available. After all, who is going to buy a 2014 model when it is supposed to be replaced with something decent soon? Effectively, Apple has no mini product as of now.

When will we read something real and positive about the mini. Now we have real and negative and vapour and positive. It almost reminds me of Microsoft in the 1990's.

So the 2011 mini is obsolete. At the rate Apple is going it is feasible that the current 2014 will become obsolete before they actually update it. Crazy.

Or another way at looking at it is we know for sure they will either update the mini or discontinue it before it makes it's way to their obsolete list.

It's gonna be strange when it gets to the point that Apple is still selling a computer that they've declared obsolete.
The way things are going; it could actually happen.
