We all know that clear cases tend to yellow over time, but then again, most clear cases that you buy online are pretty inexpensive, so I don’t mind replacing them periodically.

For my next iPhone (likely a 14) I was thinking of getting the official Apple clear case which costs about 5 times more than what I usually spend on a clear one.

Can anyone who’s used one long term comment on how it’s held up with regards to discolouration, especially the soft parts on the sides and top?

My spouse had one for around a year or so and it never really yellowed but did get/look dirty compared to a new one if side by side. It took a few drops and a lot of scratches but it held up well and didn’t need to be replaced from a functionality standpoint.

Thanks. I find that even if clear cases get a bit grimy, they can usually be cleaned. The yellowing though is a chemical change in the material, and it can’t be undone.

I got a Spigen clear case for my 12Pro polished gold when it came out, case is beginning to yellow, but since phone is gold, it is not too noticeable. It has heldup well otherwise. I am a fan of Apple products and a small stockholder, but I doubt they make their own cases and their vendor is no better than Spigen or the others. I will order another one soon and save $, best way to go. I got the case because I have slight arthritis in my hands and want a better grip on the phone.

Which Spigen clear case did you get? Can you share a link? (I like the idea of a clear case with better grip.)

It has to be removed to clean out the dust that accumulates. The sides of the phone get scratched in the process.

I ordered a Peel thin MagSafe case for iPhone 14 Pro because I find Apple’s too thick and rigid

I’ve had mine for a year and it hasn’t yellowed, nor has it soaked up the colour of my pink hair, which all my cases have previously 🤣

My wife had one on her 12 pro max for 6 months, it never yellowed, just cracked in corners. I was personally going to get one for my 14 Pro Max but the bottom is still open and I do not like or want that, so I will be going with the Spigen Ultra Hybrid or Otterbox Symmetry Clear.

I have had my Apple clear case on my 12 Pro for 2 years. No yellowing at all. it's taken a beating but still looks decent. It has protected the phone well through the 2 years and a few drops. No damage to the phone and just a couple hairline cracks in the corners that are barely noticeable. I will get the same case tomorrow for my 14 Pro.

Reactions: happy orchard
Have had an Apple clear case for my 11 Pro for quite a while (at least a few months, don't know exactly how long). It's still completely clear, no yellowing unlike other clear cases I've bought from other places.

How is best to remove the clear MagSafe case, I heard they can be pain to remove… also do they scratch your phone?

I just start and pull from a bottom corner. A bit of a struggle at first but gets easier. Never scratched yet. I've only taken off a few times to replace screen protectors.
